Sitting here in coffee shop minding my own business, when bam, cravings overload! I want sausage sandwich, everything. Then I start craving pot noodles. No idea where the cravings come from. Had breakfast only couple hours ago.

I know they aren’t nutritionally amazing but I really love them.

Using this info it doesn’t look horrendously bad.

Or am I deluding myself?

If you're a T1 then you can inject for it, if you're a T2 then it's more carbs than many folk around here eat in a day.

Let's not mention the E numbers!

EDITED. according to BB's post there are no E numbers, surprising. Did find this though.....

"Disodium Inosinate, Disodium Guanylate – On their own, these two additives are somewhat benign. They are not doing you any favors, but probably not going to kill you. However, I bring them up because they are virtually exclusively used in conjunction with MSG. If you see these two culprits, put the object back on the shelf and walk away."

god I hate cravings!!

It’s not helping being in a coffee shop where everything is carb carb carbs!!

Who decided that everyone needs to only eat bread or pastries in a coffee shop!!

Out of principle I’m refusing to move just because my body believes it needs carbs!!

The owners.. cheap to produce and with a reasonably long shelf life they make a large mark up.

Edit to add maybe get a take out next time?

I have a snack in my bag, it’s just the wrong snack.

I’m having a two year old stomping feet moment because I can’t eat what I want!!

I’ll get over it!!

I'm not massively low carb but I ain't wasting 60 carbs on a pot noodle! Yes, I could inject for it but again, I'm not running the risk of up and down levels for a.....pot noodle!!!:) (I'd rather have 6 chocolate/nut bars).

I eat less carbs per day than contained in that Pot Noodle!
I gave up going to Costa as their food is wall to wall carbs. Can I recommend Prèt a Manger? They have a good choice of low carb foods and are now my coffee shop of choice along with Nero’s who’s cappuccino is the lowest carb I’ve found (though their food is still not suitable). I also carry a protein bar in my bag at all times incase I find myself marooned in a carb loaded situation.

There isn’t a pret here. I have independents or costa or cafe Nero. Only have tea so not too much of an issue and took my own flapjacks.

It’s unusual for me to get those cravings when I go so no idea why today (although I did fall off sweet wagon this week -so maybe it’s that).

I ended up buying sausages and a tin of baked beans with sausages, a scarf and gloves and a DVD!

Nothing like spending money to overcome feeling very sorry for yourself.

I know it’s only a craving so it’s not worth messing sugars up just for a few seconds on the lips.

Locked myself indoors now so can’t eat anything rubbish because I don’t have anything

Hi Cana, you'll get there I'm sure! Erm, the baked beans though, just check the carbs, they were a favourite of mine until I realised there was about 50 carbs in a tin!!!! May as well have the pot noodle! :)

60g carbs? As said above a T1 could eat it but for me I'd not when my porridge egg and whole meal bread adds up to 55g carbs, so I'd say for the portion size it's poor nutrition.

I’m getting confused. Isn’t it just the of sugars bit that we need to be aware of?
Or is it the whole carbs bit?

Oddly, the last time (& only time.) I had a pot noodle was back in 1983.
A school leaver & one of "Mrs T's" gilted generation on a YTS scheme, popping out & unwisely spending my lunch money.

Even the advertising campaign for this "snack" ten years back touted pot noodle consumption as a deviant activity.. Lol, what does that say about what the add company had to work with regarding the "positives." ;)

I’m getting confused. Isn’t it just the of sugars bit that we need to be aware of?

It's the carb content. Though, if the "of which are sugars" is snapping at its heels you know yer probably in for a sharp mistimed spike..

It’s the carb number you need to look at, as it includes the sugars. You can ignore the sugars bit

Poor grammar, bullying and drunks.
The 58g of carbs in one Pot Noodle is roughly a weekend's worth of carbs for me. If I ever have that many carbs going spare you can bet your last £1 I wouldn't be squandering them on such a nutritionally poor 'foodstuff'.

It's the old 'Forbidden Fruit' syndrome, sometimes we want stuff simply because we shouldn't have it.
These cravings will pass and normal service will be resumed so to speak.

I’m seeing flapjacks, beans, pot noodle, sweets in your posts. These are all high carb options that will prolong the cravings for yet more high carb stuff.

Beware low sugar banners on foods. They might be low sugar but still have shed loads of carbs. Think of all carbs as sugar. It will all be glucose almost instantly you eat it.

There's more carbs in that pot noodle than my total daily target. Only time I might eat that much in one sitting is after, circa, 8Hrs backpacking.

The flapjacks are the ones from the 8 week blood sugar diet recipe book.
The sweets were a bad week this week, not had any since diagnosis. Pit noodle was a Craving today.
Beans I thought were good. (Although thinking about it that’s what the nurse said on the course I did) so maybe not.
