My great grandson was born two months prematurely in the early hours today and is only three pounds in weight ,he is booked for surgery this afternoon so very worried

I hope all goes well for the little one. Three pounds is a good weight for a preemie, so be hopeful. I'll be thinking of you all.

My thoughts and prayers are with him, and all of your family who must be beside themselves :(

Keep positive - they can do wonderful things .

Thinking of your family and little one! The nicu have amazing people and can do wonders! My daughter was born at 25 weeks ( 3 months early) and is now nearly 3 years old! If I can be any support at all, please feel free. I understand this is a crazy and emotional time for all involved! Hope little is well x

Said a little prayer. 3LB is not disastrous by any means. Good luck.

Thinking of you & your family. My nephew was prem and weighed about the same - he's now 14 and taller than me. My husband was also prem in the days when care was not so well advanced, but he's done alright.

Only just got home and read this. Of course I'll pray for your great grandson, particularly for the operation. My own son was born at 30 weeks. Thinking of you all

Hi I'm so sorry to hear your news today, my daughter was 7 weeks premature and is a very happy and healthy teenager, but I'm sure it's the surgery that is the biggest worry right now. I wont ask what is wrong, but I am sending positive thoughts, with faith, and hope for a very successful and happy outcome.

Please take care of yourself, also many members will be thinking of your great grandchild <3 With my very best wishes

Thoughts and prayers for your little man to
have a positive successful outcome .
They can indeed do fantastic things nowadays .

Sending positive thoughts out to you and yours ((hugs))

My brother was born at 2lb 10oz he was born at the beginning of October and his due date was New Year's Day , he is now a big strapping 6ft 3in 50 year old with grown up kids of his own. We often **** the NHS off on this forum but they usually pull it out of the bag when we need it most, I am sure you will soon be holding your little miracle in your arms and he will be wondering what all the fuss is about ((hugs))

Very many thanks to all for your wishes and encouragement .Little man is still here and fighting his corner. His mum was sent home as they need the bed ,it must be very strange wanting to be with the new baby and yet needing to be home for the other small children
You are such a supportive bunch on here glad to be one of you
Had a major munchie fit this afternoon ,if it was not tied down i ate it ,needed more insulin than i have ever injected to sort it out
:greedy:

Just seen this, sorry for late reply. Wish you and your family good luck, but to add my son was born exactly 3lb, nealry 11 years ago.tiny, and could eventually hold in one hand. SCBU care was brilliant. Is now normal weight and height for his age, took about till age of 7 to start really catching up Keep us updated

Thanks for the update. I left hospital a week after I had my premature baby and it was very strange going home without him, he was there for 8 weeks. He is 27 now. Not surprised about the munchies! Perfectly normal under the circumstances! I'm still thinking of you all
