pre-diabeties again!

Haha. I love anything with mayo and onion. Crumbled burger, steak, chicken, turkey, egg, shrimp, salmon tuna. Fast no brainer lunch and a nice variety of protein. Of course I need my chopped avo on it too!!

I favor cold meats most often so batch cooking and freezing them works. Many to choose from. Short shopping list too!
You like all the things that I like also. I have still not tried the Avocado a different way yet after the first time trying it,as it made me feel sick. I think that it was over ripe. I did say that I would give it another go as a dip and will : )

Not sure about Avocado, only tried it once. Reminded me of soap!
 
I totally agree that you need to follow your blood glucose. You need to know how your body responds to what you eat and than eat to your meter.

I found low carb helped, but not enough. Currently I am eating more Ketogenic, which is a more severe carb restriction, with occasional lapses. When I am good, my CBG is very very good. When I cheat/lapse, my CBG is horrid and seems to take forever to get back on track.

It sounds like you take a lot of meds. You might want to look up how each one might be effecting your blood glucose. It won't make things easier, but it might help you feel less at the mercy of unknown forces. As meds change, it might also alert you as to when you need to be even more aware of your food choices and the possible consequences.

The hardest bullet to bite, is acknowledging that diabetes does not disappear. Your labs might improve to the point of looking "normal", but the pathophysiology that resulted in your pre-diabetic diagnosis continues to be a part of you. You can work with it to be the healthiest you possible, but the changes need to become part of your life and adapted to changes in your life.

Lastly, you are in good company and have found a place for support.
 
When looking for a meter you need to check the cost of replacement test strips. We only need one meter but need thousands of strips. The 2 with the cheapest strips are the Codefree and the Tee2, neither are available in pharmacies.

You can use any lancing device. I use the Fastclix by Accu Chek asit is so easy, but any will do. If you didn't get one with your meter you can buy one at any pharmacy. If you bought the starter pack there will be one included with the meter.
 
Just an update really. Been eating lower carbs and think that’s going well. I had a chat with my brother last weekend, he’s type2. He tested my blood, which was 4.4, said there was nothing wrong with me. Then told me all about his diabetes. Wasn’t what I was after really but not to worry. Anyway, my machine and strips arrived on Saturday, so I’m testing myself (when I remember ). Not too concerned with my readings at the moment. When I’ve got a few days worth, I’ll post them and hopefully someone can help me to understand them. Feeling positive about things, back at docs next week so we shall see what happens there. Thanks for reading.
