42mmol/mol is equivalent to 126 mg/dl.Hi all
So was diagnosed type 2 7 years ago. Since then I have kept my hba1c under 42, often under 40. I now take 2*500mg Metformin a day but was thinking of reducing.
I'm a bit puzzled about the criteria for prediabetes diagnosis. Some say under 42 (mmol/mil??) and some say under 100mg/dl.
If it's the latter I don't seem to stand much chance of getting out of the prediabetic range.
Usually I'm a daily average of 6.5mmol/l - 6.8.
I have dawn phenomenon so 5.7 mmol/l to 6.3.
Advice please
Replying to your original question about the range for pre-diabetes (T2). My understanding is that if your Hba1c is 42-48 (without medication) then you are considered to be in the pre-diabetic range , above 48 is the diabetic range.I was prescribed Metformin once diagnosed diabetic 7-8 years ago. Initial hba1c 62. Usual hba1cs since 39-41.
Not sure I even need the Metformin a lot
I have no personal experience of metformin, but the Handbook of Diabetes has this to say:I was prescribed Metformin once diagnosed diabetic 7-8 years ago. Initial hba1c 62. Usual hba1cs since 39-41.
Not sure I even need the Metformin a lot
HiInteresting!
Interesting!
Short answer is that it can, just as some people can have much higher BG and have no symptoms whatsoever. I had a range of symptoms caused by high glucose levels long before I got to 48. However, despite the range and intensity of symptoms, I was firmly told I wasn't diabetic.Hi
You mentioned that you keep in the prediabetes range from 42 to 48 without meds is being in the prediabetes rang cause damage?
