Does anyone have experience of taking a short course of steroid tablets (prednisolone) for asthma while on long-acting insulin (Lantus) ? I've been warned my blood sugars will rocket, and I will be testing frequently and expect to have to adjust my insulin, but any tips will be welcome.

Hi I've been taking prednisolone at various levels constantly for past 18 months.....for lung condition,it does spike my levels. I take lantus each morning and with contact with DN we up/ lower the level as needed. When you know it's the steroids causing the rise I was advised to stay at a certain level for a time,then up the lantus but as steroids were titrated down so did the insulin. I hope you have a DN that you can get advice from. Good luck...
