Price difference for insulin for Cats / Swap

It may have been an "oversight" from the professor..

If your cat is on full units? It maybe a cheaper option (in the long run.) looking into getting an older style ClikStar pen (or the newer developed AllStar pro.) as opposed to classic syringes then just purchasing the needles for the Lantus cartridge?
Certainly less hassle for you than drawing up to a syringe... I've had experience "drawing up" from the age of 8. ;)
Hey again. I asked, specifically, whether I had to get different needles. Kindof lost faith in that lot when they kept telling me to up the dose, while I told them Night was going hypo twice a day on the low one, and had been for a week. (Try getting a 1.2 mmol/l cat out of a hypo. It's not easy). When someone starts yelling at me when I know something's off, I'm out. Going for Lantus worked for him, though, so there was that. Night doesn't like pens, they startle him. So those are out. And when we got him and his friend from the spca, we also got them pet health insurance. Good thing too, otherwise we would've been unable to afford the pancreatitis-treatment and various surgeries over the years. (Not to mention insulin, kidneymedication and whatnot). But thanks for the suggestion! Night's actually got better insurance coverage than his humans do. ;)

You can get small syringes to squirt liquid into their mouth, I've got a 5ml one I used to use with my cat. I got it from my pharmacy.

Cats are pretty much carnivores, dogs are most definitely omnivores. Their natural insulin responses are different. Prozinc is designed for the cats digestive process, and Caninsulin for the dog. It is probable that a cat will adjust better to Prozinc than Caninsulin.

Having said that, back in the dark ages (20 years ago), diabetic animals had the choice between dog based and pig based, and many diabetic cats survived quite well. Our diabetic chinchilla (herbivore rodent) settled onto Caninsulin without problems. If the price difference is really huge for the amount needed, I'd probably go with the Caninsulin.

I still have a box of 1ml needles to be used with caninsulin or prozinc if anyone wants them please PM me.

I found that buying insulin online massively cheaper. A word of warning, check their delivery method. I found viovet absolutely great when they used DPD. T
hen they changed carrier to FedEx. Twice we had to phone viovet to complain that the insulin arrived early. Viovet replaced our order £200 worth, twice. I changed supplier after that.

Hi
can i ask xfieldok are your needles inc or ex syringes am presuming inc ie attached but wanted to check
thanks
I don't know what Inc or ex means.

They are made by MSD. Description is U-40 insulin syringes.
1ml - 29g X 1/2 fixed needle.

They were used with caninsulin and prozinc insulin.

I believe they come in 2 sizes, 1ml and
.5ml.
