Pumpers..

Has anybody been told to go to longer steel sets ie from 6mm to 8mm to avoid occlusions?

Since going on combo 6mm Rapids in a week I've had 3 occlusions and more high levels and swopped sets on other days up to 3times before comfy and still having horrendous problems.

Come off pump tonight.

Pump was combo rapid d's. Didn't have this prob with the sure T's.

Why don't you try Comfort D sets to see if control is better or ask Accuchek to try 8mm rapid d to see if a longer needle helps. There's always the 30 degree angle sets as well. Animas do really nice to insert Inset 30s which hurt no more to insert than a dexcom sensor.

Spoke to Leslie at INPUT today. Getting a plan together...quite good reads today back on Levemir. Stagnant non moving 6.8 all day. Just got to figure nights out again. Got a temporary plan in place.

Trouble is you cannot trial a specific pump or sets, I had asked to do this before going back on any pump at all.

It's ok... Happier now than the last 4 weeks.

Having two ambulances and one hospitilastion is not good in 10days. Not had this in 30+ years and NHS secondary cannot cope with stomach and diabetes..... But thanks to Leslie may have an answer not thought of before...

Better now back on MDI. For some unknown reason My skin tolerated the sure T's but not the rapid d's.. Just wondered if anybody else had less occlusions / probs if they had swapped pumps from Accuchek to Medtronic really or if anybody else got a lot of occlusions with the rapid d's?

If you are on the combo then surely it's a luer lock on the cartridge, so this means any pump set that has a luer lock can be used. Simple solution is to try all the different types. If you are skinny then try an angled set either a manual insertion or with a self serter. Have you looked on advanced therapeutics site as they have different cannulas with leur locks.

Hi, donnellysdogs, when you mention occlusions, what do you mean - do you mean blockages? i've not had them, as far as i know, i have inflammation and soreness problems at the site after less than a day with the Sure Ts now. and i cant manage to try the rapid D's!
