Meat ( yeah...protein in general ..I'm screwed ) but I am eating it now. Mornings, studying, crowds, Phobias a-plenty including vomiting, flying, travel in general actual, crowds, the outside (lol)
Hi folks, wonder if someone could shed some light on this. I was a little naughty earlier and had a jam donut after my dinner, I tested before i ate and it was 6.2 which seems about usual for me now, then i tested an hour later and it was 10.1 ...the highest i have been since i was diagnosed with T2. I went for a walk ...and came home feeling a bit shaky and breathless...took my bloods again ( this is about an hour after I got the 10.1 reading and it was 4.2! I've never been that low before, cant make out if thats a good thing and if it is why do i feel so awful in myself..shaky etc..?

Jam doughnut, - naughty, naughty, ;)

If you're not used to low blood glucose then dropping that low quickly might make you feel like your having a hypo - and yes you'd feel a bit wonky for a while. Have you recovered now?

Hope you enjoyed the doughnut, - (so jealous).

Hi thank you for replying ( yes, my bad...lol ) ...and actually I still feel a little out of sorts but the shaking has gone. x

Oh yes, I can understand why you wanted a jam donut - I have a very sweet tooth and would love to be able to enjoy a donut, bar of chocolate etc. Unfortuately, as diabetics, we are not advised to go down that route.

The issue you had after eating your donut would most likely be that the sugar contained would have shot your blood glucose up quite high in a very short space of time and then dropped in a very short space of time. I can't remember the effect exercise has on blood glucose in the immediate period but it could be that your walk might have exacerbated the very fast drop, hence you ended up hypo.

Probably not best to repeat it, nor anything similar. Good luck.
