Welcome to the forums.

Congratulations, It sounds like your blood sugar has come down nicely. Do you mind if I ask how long you've been diabetic now? Exercise is always good. Can I also ask what sort of diet you are using?

I'm not sure if I understand your question. Are you asking how long many years you can go on using metformin to control your T2 without needing to use insulin?

If so, many of the T2s here manage indefinitely without any medication, just by using diet.

Once more, welcome.

A lot of doctors used to believe that T2 diabetes is progressive ie you go on medication and gradually end up having to take stronger and stronger medication, eventually ending up on insulin as the "strongest" medication.

However many of the T2s here either stay on low medication or come of medication altogether by reducing the carbohydrate in their diet.

Here's my favourite link to low carb and T2

Metformin is quite a mild drug and doesn't make a very big difference to your blood sugar,, so if your levels were at 30mmol/L then I think that your diet has probably had much more effect on your levels than the metformin,

But I don't know the answer to your question. Some people seem to be able to come off meds permanently with the right diet, others keep using the metformin because they find it helps. I think the answer depends on the person,

If you are mainly eating leafy veg and meat then I doubt the metformin has been having much effect anyway.

You are monitoring your bloods so you could try a little experiment on yourself.
