Question regarding test strips

I'm newly on this 'voyage of discovery'.

I bought an Accu-Chek Performa Nano blood glucose meter last week, and also bought a canister of 50 strips. At the moment I'm doing a lot of testing, so yesterday I ordered a box of 100 strips for £24.68 from Amazon. The strips are aparently made by Roche. I say 'aparently' as there doesn't appear to be a way of ensuring they are 100% genuine.

The strips have an Amazon rating of 4.5 out of 5 over 299 rating.

But looking at some reviews, there are complains saying they are not accurate. False readings at this point in my 'voyage' could be disastrous for my 'recovery plan'.

How accurate have you found these test strips? I'm reading of a few people on this forum who look to be anxious because their BC won't drop.

Thanks for any advice.
 
Should be fine as long as they’re not expired strips. You can always bring your meter to your next appointment to check. It should be in some tolerance range.
 
I have often bought test strips from Amazon though not for the meter you mention generally I have never had a problem with any of them as has been said as long as they are in date they should be OK.
 
Test solution is the only way to determine if a machine and strips are working within parameters. The manufacturer can usually supply this if you didn’t receive a bottle in your original kit.
 
Hi. All glucose meters and strips have to be within +/- 15% accuracy. Strips on Amazon should be Ok. You can also find them on ebay but they may be ex-prescription so genuine if in date but you may have a view on the morals.

No I didn't get a 'test solution', maybe this is something I might research. Thanks for the reply.

Sad some people feel the need to sell their prescriptions. Didn't know about the accuracy, nor the 'sell by' date. Thanks.
 
Always do a test strip test when opening a new box. Have had a couple out of range and had to return. All companies request you do tests.

Brilliant idea, test using a strip from the box I'm presently using... repeating with the next box and so on and on... Like it!
 
This morning my new box of strips arrived.

Here's the results of a test I did between strips from both old and new canisters.

Old .... New
4.4 5.6 - so far apart, I thought I'd try again.
4.8 5.0 - close enough.
5.2

+15% of 4.4 = 5.0
-15% of 5.6 = 4.9

Just had another test half an hour from the test above ..... I think this is close enough.

4.5 4.6

I'm not sure what's going on, except I can see the 'science' needs to be given some leeway.
