I moved on to Sitaglyptin on Thursday and stopped my long acting insulin as instructed (lantus) and immediately felt a bit odd.

Now my levels seem to be much less erratic - I've tested as normal but pre-meal readings seem to be higher - being between 6.7 and 7.3 whereas before they'd be 5.8 or lower when I was hungry. It's almost as if the new drug is having a dampening effect.

Obviously I'm without the lantus and that would have been having a background lowering effect. Is there anyone out there whose used this drug for a while and knows what to expect?

I have been taking sitagliptin for about 18months but have no been on insulin.

I was suffering huge post meal spikes - especially when I had a very small meal. Sitaglipin is very good at stopping spikes but apparently only works when needed.

I used to have prety stable readings of 5s and 6s but sometimes was ot hungry in the evenings . I would eat but not much. I would then get readings of about 18 2 hrs later. Liver dumping.

As your levels would be starting to drop prior to meals it is probably not working then.

I only had slight headache and drowsiness for a week after starting i. I suppose stopping your insulin would have some effect.
I have found it to be very effective nd hope you do too.

I was on it up until 10 days ago. I was only on it for about 2 months. Before that i was on gliclizide which made me fell hungry all the time and didn't really have much an effect on bringing down my sugar levels. When put on sitigliptin it stopped me feeling hungry and supressed my appetite really well, it brought my sugar levels right down to 5's and 6's. Had to come off them coz it gave me pancreatitis. I was really gutted.

Hi. I've been on Sitagliptin for over a year. It has reduced my spikes and apart from some headaches in the first week I've not noticed any other strange behaviour. I've never been on insulin.
