I am due to start with an insight tomorrow, and my wife the ever sensible one has posed two questions that i never thought of....
1. do you guys insure your pumps??? if you go swimming and take your pump off what happens if it is stolen???
2. What happens if you dammage or break your pump???

as i said she is the ever sensible one and i would have never thought of thinking of this let alone trying to get an answer. Have managed to fit the nice guidelines due to a DP.

Thanks

I put mine on the house insurance as a portable medical device

1) Try your house insurance as @Gaz-M has suggested, failing that there are companies that specialise in insuring medical devices like insulin pumps.

2) Not had a damaged or broken pump yet, but if your pump failed you would go back to using your pens until you get a replacement, hopefully the wait wouldn't be too long.

Good luck for tomorrow :)

Get it on your insurance. Most places will cover it.

I have needed my pump replaced twice as it was their breakage error. . I simply contacted animas and they sent me another one within 24 hours.

@Rnr1975 my husband added mine to our home contents insurance. It's apparently under their category entitled 'disability aids'! Husband laughed and said to the employee 'I don't think I'll tell her that'.

Still, I'm very pleased with my 'disability aid' and reassured that it's insured!

I swim most mornings and just take my pump off and lock it in my locker. No problem at all.

Hope it goes well at your pump start today! I LOVE my Insight!

:)

Hi @Rnr1975 - I have an insurance policy for mine. Insurance 4 insulin pumps. It was recommended to me on the pump course. I swim twice a week & also just unclip it & pop in locker - no probs. Hope all goes well.
