Quick breakfast question

Currently I am on Pre-mixed twice daily insulin and on days where I'm lounging around in the mornings doing nothing active I have a virtually zero carb breakfast with such as:-

4-5 scrambled eggs with either turkey rashers or smoked salmon
A mug of tea with semi-skimmed milk (I guess this has a small amount of carbs)
Mashed avocado

And this has virtually no impact on my blood glucose even after taking my morning shot.

The question I am asking is that I am about to move over to Basal/Bolus and would I need to bolus for the above type of breakfast?

I was on a premix and was constantly going high or low. I had to eat a lot more carbs than I was comfortable with. Having switched to basal/bolus I'm much more steady. And I have much more awareness of the effects of different meals on my BG.
I feel so much more relaxed about the whole thing and I can have a treat and deal with it effectively.

It depends on the person really. For example I am coming to the conclusion now that if I have just an omelette for breakfast, with virtually no carbs, that will probably require 1 Unit of insulin for me to stay in and around the same level by the next meal. Again, everyone really is different, it would seem from my own point of view anyone, if it's low carb, I almost certainly need to bolus for the protein/fat.

Some people find their blood sugar rises when they get up, even without any food at all, so you may find you need to have a small amount whatever you do. But I agree, you'll soon find out if you test.

I have a cheese omelet topped with a bit of salsa every morning at the same time each day that I work. I need to take 7-8 units of Novolog for that and I'm 5.0 at lunch. It seems like a lot of bolus for very low carbs but that's what works. I have way more carbs for lunch (V-8 juice, small fruit portion, cottage cheese, leftovers from dinner) and need about the same amount. Like he said above, everybody's different.

I have to bolus for half my protein as if it were a carb and a rich more in the morning to stop the morning rise.
