Quick question! Link between Gastroparesis and DKA?

Doctors no good, internet browsing inconclusive!

Please can I have some help in determining whether GP and DKA are related and is quite possibly a cause of some of my DKAs?

In a GP flareup, I don't eat well, and when I do my levels rocket all over the place (ranging from 6 to HI). I always have ketones during these flareups due to not eating enough.

Any advice is very much appreciated, getting more and more fed up of doctors making me out to be a liar

Hi SP.
Gastroparesis can effect your Bg levels and control.......high Bg's and high ketones = DKA.

Gastroparesis can make diabetes worse by making blood glucose control more difficult. When food that has been delayed in the stomach finally enters the small intestine and is absorbed, blood glucose levels rise. Since gastroparesis makes stomach emptying unpredictable, a person’s blood glucose levels can be erratic and difficult to control.

Here is a link about Gastroparesis and complications etc........

Hope that helps. :)
