I took R-ALA for post operative neuropathic pain, several years ago now. I can't recall which I actually took, but I have a feeling it was this one. I obviously didn't buy it on Amazon, or it'd be in my order history. The image rings a bell. Can anyone advise on which R-ALpha Lipoic Acid is the best to take for severe diabetic neuropathy, numbness? TIA
Thanks for this, After asking around and reading up on these forums, I have ordered the Swanson make, they come in 100mg capsules.I took R-ALA for post operative neuropathic pain, several years ago now. I have no idea if the R-ALA helped my neuropathic pain, or if it was just healing anyway, but my pain did ease to the extent it now only bothers me if I wear an under-wired bra. (The pain relates to bone damage on some ribs.)
I honestly can't recall how much I took, although just quickly dipping in, it seems a pretty safe supplement. It is prescribed for neuropathic pain in Germany, so you might find something useful if you tag Germany to your searches. Thanks for this, After asking around and reading up on these forums, I have ordered the Swanson make, they come in 100mg capsules.
Anyone know what dosage I should take for neuropathic symptoms, numbness etc? TIA
Thank you. 600mg a day seems to be the most effective for diabetic neuropathy. Just need to know how to take it. I'm thinking split it morning and evening. I am willing to try anything, it has been 5 months now Hopefully this will help!I honestly can't recall how much I took, although just quickly dipping in, it seems a pretty safe supplement. This link is interesting, although it is an American site, but it's not a whacky place - usually.

If you have never taken it before, my suggestion would be to have a few days on a lower dose, just in case you are really unlucky and don't get along with it. I'm not necessarily talking about the active ingredients. It can be the excipients that catch you out.Thank you. 600mg a day seems to be the most effective for diabetic neuropathy. Got my r-alpha lipoic acid tablets today. 100mg. Any advise on dosages and times of day to take these for the numbness in legs and feet. Value any advice from anyone who has/is taking these TIA
OK, So, just took my first 300mg of R-alpha lipoic acid this morning! Just hoping it helps (with at least ) the leg numbness. Just need to ask the doc about adding amitriptyline or duloxetine to the pregabalin I've been taking!!If you have never taken it before, my suggestion would be to have a few days on a lower dose, just in case you are really unlucky and don't get along with it. I really hope you find some improvement.
Thank you. I have been known to be impatient, I expect too much! THO, I realise that won't be the case here, especially as I've been struggling for 5 months! Can anyone advise on increasing the dosage and after how long??I'd be surprised if you noticed anything immediately. I certainly didn't. Give it a little time for the R-ALA to build up in your system.
Fingers crossed for you.
Which type are you using and what symptoms are they for?I take one tablet in the morning and one in the evening. The one I am using is 240 mg, so I am getting 480 mg/day. Hoping it helps with burning in my feet. Don't know if it is helping yet, but I've only been on it for a few weeks. Many say 600 mg/day is where you need to be.
Currently trying a brand called Life Extension. Bought in on Amazon. Trying to ease the burning pain in my feet.Which type are you using and what symptoms are they for?

Good to hear. I hope it does. Is it the R type you have?, and are you sticking to 2 tablets a day? I'm just wondering as I'm thinking of trying a different one due to the expense.Maybe a little. I'm still pretty early on. I'm going to stick with it.
