Well done Andy, great progress

I keep thinking about a parkrun, but my nearest is 15 miles away. I suppose I could cycle there, run and cycle home again, make it worthwhile.

now you've done 30 minutes, 25 is the next target :D

THANKS :)

I love it soooo much, it feels proper, I cant explain that it just does, I live for Saturday mornings now, on the way home I cant wait to do it again before I even caught my breath, weirdly I used to see joggers along the road and scoff "wait is that all about"

I live maybe 5 miles away and im also contemplating cycling :)

you should definatley try it mate

I was 267th lol I think there were 410 runners, but they give you results with percentages compared to the world record for age and gender etc so whatever your age you can see how your doing, just love it :)

had my 10 year old shouting for me at the finishing line I was choked (knackered but choked lol)

Well done Andy, respect!
I quite like the idea of trying the couch to 5 k thing although I find the thought of turning out at the same course as my stepson a little daunting. He won again this week in 17:11 - not what I fancy putting myself up against lol. Me and the Missus take him to some of his other races and we both feel proud of him. Being lapped by him would probably bring some different emotions -and he'd find the walk home after a bit of a pain!

17:11, that's blooming quick!

I've been an endurance monkey the last couple of years, but I want to get back towards my 19:53 PB again. Only problem is I know it's going to hurt

I have been watching youtube videos about form etc. so today I went back to the course to not worry about my speed and try to think about my form, well unexpectedly I kept going and kept going and did the 5k twice 10k!!!! double woohoo :D :D

so I feel like that dude in chariots of fire or a fat white version of Husain bolt, I cant wait to get home and tell the missus so in I burst and tell her the amazing news, all ready for my tearful congratulations..... "humpf that was a bit silly we are going out all day you will be tired" did you ever feel like you were on an island all by yourself?

28:01, not shabby at all.

I swim for most of my exercise plus a fair bit of walking. I think the parkrun will be my only jogging most weeks. Too **** hilly round here and I hate the treadmill. The parkrun has basically replaced one session of swimming. Swimming is an early morning thing for me apart from Friday when its an afternoon thing with our lass for company. My longest and most intense session which going of my leg aches before the parkrun was probably a mistake. I was fair knackered walking to get my bus home.

As for running marathons, I have the medals tucked firmly at the back of the drawer and filed in my head as never again! I think 1985 was the last time. I think 5k will be quite enough for me.

Thanks for the point at the app. Downloaded it and having a play it looks very good :D

I go swimming most weeks one of my kids loves it but I either swim with my head above water and go no where or swim like a Olympic gold medalist head don't but can't breath after one length, I watch the other swimmers tilting there head and do this but just can't get enough air, my body could do more but my lungs so no, it's frustrating :( the marathon is a huge maybe one day

How did you do today? I got 27:39 beginning to find my pace a bit better.

Swimming. May be worth asking if they do stroke skills classes in your area. I know they have them around here. I did them (ok it was over 40 years ago) it really does sort the issues with breathing etc out.

that's what I need for my swimming. The fitness is there, but technique is awful, the only thing that's stopped me doing a triathlon.

Bike riding puts me of a triathlon. Plus my main stroke is breaststroke so speed wise it holds me back. I could do with brushing up my front crawl but bikes. I have done reasonable distances in the past but I can't sustain any speed.
