Thanks for replying..That totally makes sense to me as all my life I've felt better for not eating as growing up I always felt food kind of made me Ill. It's just been so frustrating and when I look back I can now blame RH for being horrible to my sister when we were younger . Because of now recognising why I had erratic moods.

I can absolutely agree.
And confirm that every single moment of irritation and cross word that I have ever spoken throughout my entire life has been due to RH. ;););)

No, really, I do understand. RH has a very unpleasant effect on mood. Mr B has endured a few bad ones. He's a saint.

Hopefully reading our stories will help you understand more. As I am now on meds and diet to control, I tend to eat fewer meals. And fasting is really good to get back to normal fasting levels.

The best thing for me is trying things that I know don't affect me. I just don't do carbs at all or sugars.
If you try a really low carb lifestyle a lot of the symptoms go away. I was dreadful through my 'diabetic' years. I would scream and shout and I was continually frustrated, I couldn't function at times.

Me and brunneria have gone through this, we will help you any way we can.

Have a look at RH on Wikipedia, they have got really useful information about the science and different types of RH

Keep asking and posting.

As I've said, the docs are not certain about the condition because they can't get their heads around that you 'react' to carbs and sugars. My GP had heard but never met a patient with it.
As far as I'm aware, according to my consultant, there is only me and 1 other in my health authority catchment area. I'm certain though, that there are like yourself, patients that are struggling with the misdiagnosis of being diabetic and getting constant hypos.

Keep posting, let us know how you are doing.

It's really annoyed me as talking to my mum she said that the doctors just didn't know what to do as i was hardly ever at school I was always ill. She said the head teacher even came to visit our home to see why I was off school so much.. I even had to have my polio on bread instead of sugar as anything with sugar in made me Ill.. I never had Easter eggs or birthday cakes as i had learned that these foods did something weird to me!!!
I've been really strict with my diet and kept my weight at the right level even though I had no diagnosis I've always known there was something wrong.. So did my mum.. All my life I've been called a fussy eater but I've had to be careful of what I ate.. Well at least I know now that my (moods) are not just me being a grump!!

I always knew that there was something else was wrong and I literally had to fight my way to get a referral, to get a consultant who knew what this condition was.
I was extremely fortunate to find one, and to get the tests to make sure. I am still having the tests, in fact I have one on Tuesday, an OGGT, to see if my 'diabetic' meds (sitagliptin) are allowing me to eat a few more carbs if I wanted to. (I don't!)
I'm happier, I'm fitter and healthier! And I don't have the awful symptoms that made my life hell, I was a terrible grump.

Low carbing, this forum and brunneria rescued my life.

I've seen a specialist and dietician and she said basically I was doing the right thing apart from having to eat 7 small meals which I'm finding difficult.. Then awaiting to go back to see how I'm doing. Which has been cancelled so still waiting!!!

bless you hozzy -- it is not fussiness -- it is a realisation that the medical community have been lax at diagnosing so full marks for your perseverance and tolerance

I thought my 15 year journey bad enough, but ours and brunnerias, put mine into a mere twinkling of an eye.

Are you feeling a bit better now that your diagnosis is known?

Yes and no... I'm angry that all my life I have avoided lots of food as I have known how ill I can be and my mum has always known but the professionals have always tested for diabetes even though I have told them I'm ill after food but no one ever listened to me so I've managed it with very strong will on my own. But glad that they have now given me a diagnosis and everything makes sense!!!

You have the frustration and anger from misdiagnosis and the frustration and anger as symptoms the anxiety as well.

No wonder with all the rest of the symptoms you wanted to know why!

I've been called a grumpy moo and stress head a lot especially at work but now I have read more about RH I have realised that stress makes the condition worse and I have a very stressful job.. So I am going to try and manage it better.. I hope!!!
