Reactive hypoglycemia without diabetes newbie

Yes, the hospital provided me with one. I've never needed to buy strips and lancets as my step mum has diabetes and has hundreds, so quite handy as she gives me some. I've been testing all day today. I'm feeling a little better this evening. Hubby had forced me to eat, although as you will know it's a vicious cycle as I feel sick and don't want to eat.
Honestly thank you so much for your messages tonight. You really don't know how much you have made a difference. It was really getting to me today. I was really at my wits end so thank you so much Xxxx
Thanks!

It is all about what you eat!
I have to eat low carb, so no spuds, wheat, pasta, pastries, cereals, oats, sweets, can't do dairy, no cooked greens! So I eat lots of salads and meat!
But because of this, I am healthier than I have been for decades!
So much energy, so much more for my busy life!

Hope you are trawling through the thread about RH!
If you want to read my journey to here, I have written a blog called 'a reactionary'. You will recognize yourself in it. Go to the top of the page, click on blog, click on search, type in a reactionary by nosher 8355 and read it!

Hopefully you will have more questions, as you understand it more.

I've also been told to purchase a medical tag incase of emergencies. My only concern is if I get it engraved with reactive hypoglycemia without diabetes , no one will know what it is haha! Sorry I've gotta laugh. Only way I get through this some days

As my avatar is of my necklace. I got this on Amazon and added reactive on top of Hypoglycaemia!
It will have a card for your handbag,(purse).

You don't need to have the 'without diabetes'!

It is known as Reactive Hypoglycaemia only!

As diabetic RH is now included in the terminology as @Brunneria will testify!

Thank you for that bit of information. Every time I see someone , they always say RH without diabetes. I will just say RH from now on. Xxx

Yes, but i understand what Shiv means. The emergency services may not know what RH is, and not know how to treat her.

How about having the tag read 'Reactive Hypoglycaemia - check me for a hypo!'

I often refer RH ers to look at Wikipedia, there is some basic information there!

I believe that you have the condition 'Late Reactive Hypoglycaemia'!

You do what I do! My reaction to a carb meal or glucose, I hyper, then go back to normal but carry on down until I stop by having something small to eat and a cuppa!

A good tip, is never, to use glucose or glucagon for a hypo. Have a rich tea biscuit and a cuppa, to slowly bring up your levels, as you don't want to hyper, then your blood glucose levels bounce and yo yo all over the place! Then have a small meal when you are better.

I have seven very small meals a day every two to three hours. All low carb!
If you don't hyper, you don't hypo. Stay in control, that's the key!

You are starting on a journey of experimentation and testing, to see what you can eat and what you can't! I get surprising results every now and then.
But I am literally allergic to carbs and sugars!

It sounds hard and tough. But you have a choice, like I did, feel good or feel ****!
I'd rather feel good! And stay away from hypo hell!

The more you read and learn you can make the change in lifestyle that will be for the benefit of all those around you and of course yourself!

I have approached a few paramedics and st.John's ambulance and they automatically go for glucose or glucagon injections for treating hypos.
I've put all the information on my 'medical alert' card in my wallet.
