So for a few weeks iv has headaches, bad sleeping pattern, shakeyness, increased urination, blured vision, dizzy, un balanced, confusion, making silly mistakes, irritable, restless, lack of energy, sweaty, hungry. These all seem to be after eating. I bought blood gloucose monitor and on a morning its between 4-5 and 2 hours after food it seems to be about 5-5.5. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Its not really low it just seems to be the same.

Impossible to draw any conclusions from those numbers and those times, I am afraid.

Between 4 and 5 is a good, normal blood glucose. And 5s are good after food too.

If you really want to investigate whether you may have RH, you would need to test before food and maybe every 10 or 15 mins for several hours after eating. Which is a lot to take on. The type of food is important, and so are the timings.

Hospital tests would be an extended oral glucose tolerance test.

What has your doc said about your symptoms? There are other explanations for all of them, from food intolerances to stress and other medical conditions. I don't want to discourage you from taking responsibility for your own health, but your first step really should be to go to the doctor and let them eliminate all the other things...

Im at the doctors tomorrow hopefully. The job im in doesn't really allow the time to test when i feel at the lowest, nor eat properly. Its as and when i can as i work in a challenging behaviour unit and its very fast pacing. I dont eat fruit and veg apart from smoothies and kind of live off a strict diet of a handful of foods due to autism and textures.

Please let us know how you get on!

The not eating properly stands out for me!

Unfortunately, despite your on going medical problems finding out the right foods for you is so important.
Diet has a huge impact on how we feel in ourselves!

The dr said to have more sugar, eg in hot drinks and on brekfast cereal. She has sent me for all the blood tests going. Also said my sugar levels were on the low end and she would like to see them higher into the 6-7's and has arranged a follow up appointment next month with the results. And told me to eat every 2-3 hours and take breaks at work as and when.

I think your doctor needs to read up on hypoglycaemia!
Even if your blood levels are normal, telling a patient to have more sugar on a carb filled breakfast cereals is mind boggling. Especially if the patient has blood glucose issues!

Eating every two to three hours is good advice as long as it's low carb and healthy!

At least you are getting the tests done!

Let us know how you get on.

Am delighted that your doc took you seriously and is running those tests. :)

I don't think stuffing carbs is a good idea, whether you have RH or not. But you may prefer to follow your doc's advice - i think it is a very understandable response! But if you do, please keep track of what you ate, and when (if) you get the symptoms.

For those of us who benefit from low carbing, it becomes very clear, very quickly! :D
