Hi there My HBA1C result was terrible it was 11.4% my GP wants me on injectable treatment called Victoza it has really freaked me out anyone on this

Hi, I started using Victoza just over 2 weeks ago. I started on 0.6 and on Monday increased to 1.2. My blood sugars are coming down. My appetite is refuced and the injection is virtually painless. The only side effect so far is the occasional bout of diarrhea. If you type Victoza into a search engine you will find lots of information. Good luck.

Hi. Sounds like a good move but what sort of diet are you on? Are you overweight? Do keep the carbs down to below 200gm/day or less and see how that affects you. Once any excess weight is gone then Victoza may be able to be stopped or changed to insulin?

Hi, I am overweight, I'm not counting carbs just not eating all the rubbish I was eating. More fruit, less potatoes, less alcohol. Hopefully when I lose weight I may be able to go back to being tablet controlled.

If you follow the low-carb approach that so many on here do I guarantee your HbA1c will come down by a great deal; it is possible for some Type 2's to completely normalize their blood sugars by exercise and low-carbing. You may still need some medications but you will require a lot less.

Have been prescribed Victoza, gonna be trained to give injection next week. Am a bit scared but know need help at the minute. Am changing diet and really starting to exercise. Have been told not too eat too much fruit as causes spikes in blood sugar and it contains a lot of natural sugar. Last Hba1c was 87

No need to be scared it is really easy. Oddly enough milk causes my sugar to spike but not fruit. No idea why that is, guess we are all different. I found all the information about counting carbs really confusing, from what I've read T2 don't really need to count carbs just cut down on those things heavy with carbs e.g. bread, potatoes, rice, pasta. Good luck and let us know how it goes☺
