I had DKA when i was diagnosed at the age of 12, lost half my body weight, being sick and constantly wanting to pee with a dire thirst. It's not something i would ever want to experience again and haven't in the following 26 years.

Kerrylouise, please seek all the advise you need as you need good support. Never forget your insulin, it's your lifeline. Blood tests are hugely important, even if you start doing one a day to get your levels into a reasonable range. Take time to learn about it, there's some great android apps for diabetes monitoring and if you log your activity at least you can start to see whats going on.

It's hard work without a doubt, you'll reap the rewards.

You can do it step by step, one little thing at a time.

Dear Kerry,

Please, this is urgent. Test, take your insulin, and go and get help. You're playing with your life here. Everyone understands, and nobody's judging you, but don't throw your life away!

What azure said is absolutely, totally right.

" if you want to lead a normal life, as you said above, the best way is to control your diabetes and then it doesn't control you ... That's the way you can win against diabetes - keep it under control and keep it in its little box. It'll always be there, but it'll be a tamed monster not a life-threatening, life-affecting one."

It sounds like you're in a life crisis right now. Talk to your boss, be honest, and try to work out how much time you need to fix this.

Once you start to help yourself, others will help too.

Sending love, Lucy
