Diet is basically non existent although I don’t eat much but maybe pick more. Breakfast was a yoghurt and then at 1200 on the way home had a McDonald kids meal of 4 chicken nuggets and some fries. Haven’t eaten since. Dinner tonight will be a cheese and ham turkey burger and mash. I’ve really lost my way. Can’t get in to any routine as I work a 2 early, 2 late then 2 off rotating shift pattern.
Make sure to drink plenty of water. Dehydration can lead to elevated blood glucose levels.
Sorry I meant I take 25mg of Alogliptin as well. So I have 3 diabetic tablets. He suggested I took an extra metformin but told him I get chronic diarrhoea but then I can do anyway so maybe it is a better option tha more Gliclazide. Any thoughts??
I second this. It's scandalous how many GPs believe T1 doesn't happen to adults. My thoughts are your levels should not be anywhere near as high as they are with all that medication.
Has your doctor done the Type 1 tests? Has he considered you may be a late onset T1? That you just do not produce enough insulin yourself - that no matter how many extra tablets he gives you, things won't change?
I would be pushing for a C-Peptide and a GAD test to see if T1 is a possibility.
The only other possibility is your diet and the amount of carbohydrates you consume.

Gliclacide is supposed to increase insulin production - if your pancreas is pooped it can't make any more. Equally, Metformin lowers insulin resistance, if you have 'normal' insulin sensitivity it's not going to help significantly.
Reading between the lines of your posts it seems you're eating very few carbs and despite the medication glucose levels are rising quite rapidly and you're starting to lose weight. These are strong indicators to suspect T1 so push your GP for tests or a referral to an endocrinologist ASAP. If they resist, ask them the implications of ignoring T1 and do they want to take responsibility?
BTW, I would suggest checking for ketones too with such high levels.
Good luck.

Just seen one of your old posts about possible illnesses could cause raised BG. I’m suffering with a really bad cough and cold symptoms even after a flu jab in October. Also stressed out with mother in law in hospital with lymphoma and chronic COPD.. I have a part time job as well that I could really do without at the moment. Historically my BG was down to 8.7 from 10.5-11.0 though only on a 6 month check as I haven’t been self testing very often. Just clinging to any reason why my BG should increase so dramatically.
