reducing hours at work

Hi has anyone had to ask their employer to reduce their hours at work due to the continuous increase in work load averaging 50-55 hours a week, and unfortunately had to use their diabetes as a reason?

Thanks Stephen,

I didn't know about that rule. my employer knows about my diabetes, and are ok about this. Over the last 6 months Ive have been given extra work on a temporary basis until April. On Friday during my appraisal I was told this temporary extra work will now become permanent. My employer will not employ anyone else and my immediate bosses give me extra work instead of us working together as a team to get things done. They always say the right things to me e.g don't work late etc. If the works is not done we all know what their reaction will be.

I was therefore forced to say that Im thinking about reducing my hours to allow me time to exercise and manage the hypos that normally follow. after this conversation my bosses went to HR and used my diabetes as the reason to employee someone. Realistically this work load is too much for any individual. Ive never used my diabetes as an excuse and never taken a day off sick because of it in the 11 years that i have had it. I got very angry that it had to come to this nd feel that i have let myself down
