Yes, thank you. A hot bath, a mug of herbal tea and an early (for me) night are all on the agenda.

The kittens were very determined I was going to do as little as possible other than be their lap!
 
Morning! Well, I do seem to be getting rather slapdash in my old age - hypo on the treadmill last time, forgot to do my 50% bolus reduction a couple of days ago so ended up not swimming, and this morning, happily pounding away on the treadmill for the first time since last week's oopsie incident, I realised that I had forgotten to reduce my basal rate for the session!

So - and this was two thirds of the way through my 35 minute 'pound' when I realised - I unclipped the hosepipe from the cannula altogether, tucked it into my sports bra so it didn't end up lassoing any of my limbs or indeed the treadmill, and carried on! Reconnected before stretching.

4.9 afterwards, treated myself to a free gym latte so as to be 'five to drive', and was 5.2 a little later, after tea and eggs. Keeping an eye on my numbers extra carefully this morning in case of crashing lows (due to not reducing) or indeed soaring highs (due to not having set a post-exercise 150% temp basal rate, just in case of going low) - but all in all I'm pretty pleased.

Total of 12 minutes either warming up or cooling down, plus 6 mins, 7 mins and 8 mins at 9km/h, with two 1 min walking breaks at 6.5km/h both the 6 mins and 7 mins at 6.5km/h.

REALLY PLEASED with my progress.

Hi folks, 30 lengths this morning. No chance for any scheduled early morning exercise for the next few days, but I'm looking forward to some outside running (rather than treadmill) next week. Got to bite the bullet!

Done it.

Went to the local pool, alone, and for the first time in about 20 yrs went into the water - to do Aquacise.

It took a lot of mental effort to leave the house and get there for 8pm - but it was worth it. I feel revitalised now.

Gym programme scheduled for next Monday and have booked in again for next Wednesday night.

Tomorrow cycling to work ... if I dont lose weight, I should at least become toned!
 
Long time no post, but I've been doing lots and lots and lots of walking on hilly terrain, and had a brief-ish swim yesterday. And today I did my first parkrun. I'm very, very proud.

I started exercising about 14 months ago, and started very slowly. And today I've seen that it's paying off!

Yay! That's brilliant @Snapsy and @magsiesss.

I am still maintaining the 5/6 mile a day walking average. This is particularly good in view of the OFSTED visit we had this week. (No official result for a while, but we are not displeased with the initial feedback.) I am coming up to the anniversary of my diagnosis which happened during our summer sports week last year and my six month of daily recorded walks falls in that time. I will definitely have walked over 600 miles and probably nearer to 700 in that time! I've been asked to provide my 6 month total which I think is going to be used as some kind of target for groups to have a go at beating!

Yesterday I walked over 9k steps - shopping for me again today which is more tiring that going out for a "proper" walk.

Today we hired mountain bikes and for a couple of hours whizzed up and down and around some very challenging trails - jumps and hairpins and all sorts! Ended up absolutely caked in mud and extremely exhilarated! Cautious husband thinks I have a death wish as I had a couple of near misses (trees, dodgy landings, nearly going over the edges of some of the Cresta-Run-like trails) and I fell off once..... while the bike was stationary, so although I felt like an idiot I didn't hurt myself.

Bit of a walk afterwards, then back for a cup of tea - hmmmmm, is ten to five too early to be wine o'clock?

I just went to the gym, revisited the program set up last week and changed a few things

Chatted to a lady in the toilets (as you do) and she says she usually does the gym workout, then goes for a sauna afterwards .... hmmm sounds like a plan as its really included in the membership. Might try that tomorrow morning

Okay, so as of last week I can only do 22 minutes on a treadmill, in 3 stints with 1 min walking in between, but next week I am venturing OUTSIDE, and I'm really keen to do my first Parkrun a week on Saturday........ Treadmill tomorrow, to continue the practice.

BRILLIANT!!!

I've never done 5Ks or more.. Just 1 mile every morning as fast as I can....which is never very fast .... :)

So glad you're going to take the plunge (no pun intended:))


Diagnosed 13/4/16: T2, no meds, HbA1c 53, FBG 12.6, Trigs 3.6, HDL .75, LDL 4.0, BP 169/95, 13st 8lbs, waist 34" (2012 - 17st 7lbs, w 42").

6/6/16: FBG AV 4.6, Trigs 1.5, HDL 2.0, LDL 3.0, BP 112/68, BPM 66, 11st 11lbs, waist 30".

Regime: 20g LCHF, run 1 mile daily, weekly fasting.
 
@magsiesss sounds great - hope you enjoyed your session at the gym!

Thanks @KevinPotts - I had such a great time at my first parkrun - I was daunted by the director referring to the course as 'brutal' in the pre-run briefing - apparently that one is the second hilliest in the country! Ooooops. Didn't run the whole 5k but jolly well managed 3k before I needed to walk (that's when all the downhill bits suddenly turned into uphill bits!). Walked/ran alternately until the triumphant finish!

I would love to run more often outside but confidence and fear of injury had trapped me on the treadmills at the gym. However today I have done 3 little spontaneous sprints during a medium-ish walk along a beach - enough to get hot and sweaty - and that felt fine! And not a bad look in chinos, fleece, clumpy shoes and a knock-off Panama hat......

As of next week, then, I'm taking to the great outdoors regularly!

LOL! My previous only other forays outside (failed attempt to get started with couch to 5k, only lasted until session 7) involved it still being dark (very early winter mornings) and a black woolly hat so as not to be recognisable!

Long walk yesterday - during which I got progressively crosser that I hadn't put my running gear on so I could run!

I think I've got the bug......

Working today in the great outdoors, so I think that counts as moderate exercise.

8000 steps yesterday including my mile run. Run done this morning, gym this afternoon longer session as I am missing it Fri and next Mon being away for the weekend having fun:)
