Regular moderate exercise log

I've been grinding out 10,000 steps a day ... I feel restless and don't sleep as well as when I'm tired from exercise..

I've still had some of my worst nights following days with decent length walks! But congratulations on the daily 10,000 - this starts to sound like a real routine.

That's good going. My 11,500 steps today was just over 5 miles (according to my monitor). Walking somewhere nice?

Mostly things that needed to be done so I just walk rather than use the car. Something needed to be delivered, shopping and we went out for a meal this evening so I walked almost 3 miles there but we caught the bus home. All this adds up well over 17,000 steps so a meal out was great and blood sugars 2 hours after the meal were 5.8. It was worth the walking for that alone.

Back to walking more now but miss my gardening exercising as I always saw it. Have started to try and do some fitball exercises on area below waist. But to tone up muscle I've lost only!

Absolutely nothing moderate today. Running hill reps, a workout devised by one of Satan's more imaginative minions

I haven't been logging much lately but I have done some one- and two-hour walks since I was last here. I also did a weights session. Those are getting more enjoyable as I learn how to lift properly. And today I finally ran for the second time. I have procrastinated a lot about that because the first time was so tough. Basically I got really cold while running, which I wasn't expecting at all. But my son gave me advice about clothing. Then I still procrastinated. But today I got up and put my running gear on. I still didn't go out till the afternoon! But I did it and it was much easier than the first time. I ran further and better (still switching between running and walking, though), so I feel happy now. My calves are killing though. :)

Well I've gone & stubbed my poxy pinky toe so that's me out for a few days :spitoutdummy: Id kick myself with my good foot but that'll get me nowhere. How can something so blinking tiny hurt like that?

Sorry to hear that. How about hopping?

4 miles walking today.Just felt I had to get out again this evening to get up to my 10,000 steps.

Please try to take it a little bit easy, pushing yourself too much won't help recovery.
Hi Donnellysdogs, I hope I am in the right thread here? Anyway I was just browsing and looking at the posts as usual and I came across this great forum. I am type 2 and have been training now for about 19 months. Mainly cardio training on the treadmill then on the weights, continuous for about 2.5 hours twice weekly and I also have my set of weights in my workshop. I'm doing OK.

The main thing I was going to offer some reassurance to Donnellysdogs regarding the residual burning under and down the side of the arm. With any radical surgery you will always get nerve damage. By the looks of it you are on a opiate patch? Maybe I am totally wrong and tell me so if you want. Medication is probably a no go area for you at the moment but if the burning pain is still a big problem for you, ask your specialist if you would benefit from Gabapentin. It is used mainly to control peripheral neuropathy and severe nerve damage post op. You take care of yourself and I hope to see you in the forum again and maybe on the correct thread. Best regards Peter. Oldman1952.

How about seated military presses? :) Or there's gotta be stuff you can do on one leg in yoga?
No, seriously, get well soon - I'm sure you will.

Cheers RuthW :)

I actually do have some upper body resistance work I can do for my neck re-hab but its not quite as fun as kayaking & of course (sods law) it's a beautiful sunny morning!

Anyway - enough moaning from me! Hope everybody else has a good day ;)

Yes,but now you're making me jealous,; kayaking is not a thing in the UK. I did it once in the Lake District one summer. Might as well have been in the Arctic Circle!

On the upside you're less likely to cop the week long 35 degree plus heatwaves ;)

Thanks for the advice Peter. I can't tolerate gabapentins, lyricas, tramadols etc. they are big no-no's... The morphine and very careful dosing of diazepam is currently some relief.

I am finding coconut oil massage every night and every morning for 15 mins is now helping. I also put a pillow between arm and chest and thi has helped enormously too. Now just to find ways to exercise to get rid of the horrible cording in my arm put!
