retinopathy

I used to buy bottled bilberries fom the Coop but they closed all the local branches down.If anyone knows where they are still available I would be interested.

I knew bilberries were good for night vision - I remeber reading that pilots in wartime who ate bilberry jam were supposed to have better night vision and this was thought to be due to the antioxidants in the berries.

I wasn' sure if oher berries had the same properies as even close relatives like cranberries and
blueberries have different properties.

Maybe I will ask nmy surgeon to inject some bilberry extract - he;s tried everything else.!

Oh dear, the first commentator ascribes the WW2 pilot's night vision to bilberries.
Propaganda at the time credited the sucess of British pilots ( especially Cat's Eyes Cunningham) during night raids to eating carrots; not bilberries! There was a glut of carrots and the propaganda also helped to convince the general public to eat them so that they would be able to see in the dark.

The real reason for tthe pilot's success was actually the discovery and use of radar!
