Ok, so in Spetember last year I had my annual photos taken. This time it came back that there was a problem which needed investigating. I waited until today to see someone at the hospital. I was told that there is no problem with my eyes whatsoever, and they seem to be referring just about everyone.... and that I would probably get another referral next year.

More interestingly, the Dr asked if I was definitely diabetic, as there was no sign at all in my eyes - I was told the same thing at Moorfields 10 years ago. He said that it must ver very mild and that at this rate I would never have any eye issues.

Very odd!

Seeing is believing. Er, is that the right thing to say? Anyway, no worries then, eh?
Maybe they just got their eyes crossed.

That's a hell of a wait from..... September!!
 
Had mine done last week, 25th. Waiting for results.
 
I had mine done about a month ago & the result a few weeks later. I you have hayfever when being screened it my be worth them checking if it can be done without the drops as I have for the last 2 years - year 1 the guy doing my test thought my eye would never stop watering enough to screen

The last 2 screenings I had were done without drops. The worst bit at the clinic was being told not to blink whilst they shone a bright white light in my eye at very close range!
 
Some hospitals that are in debt are trying to claw back an income from referring patients to consultants.

Is couple weeks ago I was taken in to A&E and told to see my GP to get appt with my gastro chap again. This was unecessary as I knew the cause. I spoke to my GP about this and he said that it wasn't necessary and it was just this hospital that is so hugely in debt clawing back money as they would get £80 for every patient that enters A&E and is then referred to a consultant (whether needed or not. ?
 
We have heard similar stories from our GP and consultant: treatments and referrals/admissions, simply to gain extra funding and look busy and important. When I learnt that one of the major considerations in whether to do laser treatment or not, was the department budget, we had a sense of humour failure.

Dire isn't it!! I knew the cause of my hospitalisation and they are more concerned at wasting an appt and gaining £80 than seeing a referal from a GP for somebody needing it!!!

I have also heard of other examples recently as well.
