Hi All,

When, and if you read this, most of you will probably think 'duh, obvious', but to me it wasn't until last night and I thought I would share my light bulb moment with others to try and help them.

I was talking to someone about my diabetes last night and how I felt about the whole thing. Whilst talking about my diagnosis and how I am handling the injections etc it dawned on me that the whole 'thing' (for want of a better term) with diabetes is all about the journey we take with it, not about the outcome.

Most of my life I have had experiences with finite lifetimes, school, uni, first job, my wife's pregnancies, but diabetes is different, it is for life, it is never going away, there is no finish line for it, only what you can do with it at the time.

I guess what I am trying to say is to try and not obsess about what has happened before, e.g. high BG as there is nothing you can do about it now, be mindful of the future, but not obsessive and try and take it one day at a time and be the best you can be for it.

Hope all that makes sense and with any luck has helped you, I feel that it has helped me.

Quite right not been diabetic very long just done my Desmond course I now believe I am in charge of my diabetes and life now and not my diabetes ruling me . It just needs a bit of common sense and no point worrying about what has happened in the past. Good luck

Having a positive frame of mind is very useful in life. Not being bitter about the past is equally useful. Don't let anything stop you enjoying life. It's just a matter of finding things you enjoy. And searching in itself can be fun.

A good way to look at it for sure.

For me the most important thing I learnt recently was not obsessing over every little high BG. As long as you don't let things get out of hand and manage good control most of the time then it's OK :-)

I watched a programme today where a man fell down the stairs and was paralysed from the neck down, he is only young and has a 6 year old daughter and another woman who had to have her brain drilled into to stop tremors whilst she was still awake, honestly makes diabetes seem like a walk in the park!

Hi qbix

This is one of my favourite quotes:- In life, where we're going doesn't matter, it's what happens along the way that counts..........

Best wishes RRB :)
