Please tell me true Can type 2 be reverse and how I tried many way to reversed but I never get any better. Please tell me so i still can hope thanks
Hi. I would day that this totally depends mainly on two things :
1] If by "reverse" you mean to reduce your blood sugar levels into the non-diabetic range through the right kind of diet an approach - yes. While some maintain that it is actually reversible, I would say that this is highly speculative if not total nonsense...but, if get figure down well and maintain the approach that gets you there..that's pretty much reversed. I am in no doubt, personally, that I can sustain my diet I will have reversed things so long as I don't then get complacent. Many people on this site have reversed their diabetes like this but it is not a cure as such.
2] The way many of us have managed to get things under control is to reduce our carbohydrate intake dramatically or to avoid carbs (particularly bread, cereal, pasta, rice, spuds etc etc..) as much as possible..and by testing with meters before we eat and about 2 hours after we eat (at least initially to identify what foods raise our blood sugar most).
It is crucial to understand that as well as sugar and sweet stuff in general, carbohydrates turn to glucose in the system....so look at labels and avoid foods that are high in carbs (ie. above 10g carb for every 100g of product).
If you do this and stick to it, you could definitely manage to reverse things enough to have non-diabetic blood sugar levels - but you must also keep to it. Other people's opinions differ, and there are always things like other drugs (particularly steroids and some anti-biotics) and infections etc which can increase the levels regardless. My advice is inform yourself and aim to get in control.
Good luck.
Hi @loiphamp ..
Not sure what you mean when you say that you are getting no better .. do you mean that your BG levels are spiking and/or staying high .. or are you referring to other physical symptoms of diabetes or problems with medication. If it's the latter then you need to talk to your doctor or nurse but otherwise managing and controlling your diabetes through exercise, diet and testing seems to be the best way forward.
For me, committing to an LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) lifestyle and testing 3-5 times a day seems to be working and you'll find that there is a wealth of info, relevant advice and positive support about LCHF on the forum. I suggest that you read up on the Low Carb Program and you might also find the discussion on the Low Carb Diet forum helpful, together with the following websites .. Low Carb Intro and Information and Low Carbs in 60 Seconds
Not sure if you are testing your BG levels but, if not, then try the website at: https://homehealth-uk.com/product-category/blood-glucose/ for the SD Codefree meter or: http://spirit-healthcare.co.uk/product/tee2-blood-glucose-meter/ who distribute the TEE 2 meter, which is free. I'm testing 3-4 times a day which works out at around £10 to £12 per month for the two packages above but, more importantly, I now know what my BG levels are .. and I can manage them
I think that my diabetes can be controlled but I don't believe that this is the same as reversed or cured. I prefer "in remission" as the most accurate terminology. I am having my first annual review on 25th and I am hoping for some "good numbers" .. you can see from my sig block below how I have been progressing over the 3 months since I was diagnosed
Hope this helps
What have you tried that did not seems to work?
And perhaps you may like to share what your typical glucose levels and meals are like currently?
What other medical conditions you have and medications you are on.
It took me over a year of 20g of carbs a day to realise I had reversed or pushed my diabetes T2 into remission. Now I can eat whatever I want without it impacting on my blood sugars. But in that year my taste for different foods has changed and apart from chocolate there are not many high carb foods I enjoy now.
So to answer your question, yes its true for some ... but not for all.
If you stop trying to go back to your 'normal' eating habits and stick to a low carb high fat way of eating to keep your numbers in the normal range .. then one day you may just find your no longer in the T2 blood sugar range no matter what you eat. BUT again be warned if you go back completely to your old eating habits for long enough your T2 will show its self again, as you are recreating what caused it to start in the first place.
If your not so lucky to control with diet then the medication is there to help your bs stay in the normal range.
Do tell us more about your eating habits and lifestyle.
First I like to thank you all your input.I was diagnosed late 2015 ,before i was diagnosed i drink a lot soda, maybe 2 liter everday until my feet getting hurts and tired so when to doctor. He said i had type 2 with A1C 12.9 fasting over 11.0 .Doctor gave me metformin 500 g per day, glipizide 5g twice a day,I still normal food intake for almost a year then I found LCHF ,after several months my fasting get to normal for 2 months then my A1C 5.9 So i thought i was reversed diabetes .I went out had pizza with my children next morning my fasting go back to diabetic .Now I understand take more times .Once again thank you everyone. Most type 2 people can get their blood sugars down to non diabetic levels (HbA1C below 42) within 9 months on a LCHF diet. You can do it 3 months sooner if you also do intermittent fasting. When blood sugars are normal this can be classed as reversing type 2 diabetes.
Fasting helps repair the body by a process called autophagy and may be helpful for full remission of diabetes when you can tolerate more carbs without spiking blood sugars.
,after several months my fasting get to normal for 2 months then my A1C 5.9 So i thought i was reversed diabetes

I am not overly convinced that it can be reversed as it effects the entire body covering multiple systems. This is a whole body experience that will take years to unravel. Type 2 still remains an enigma to medical science, its true cause is at yet in question.Hi All
