I have been using Teujeo insulin for roughly a month and taking blood glucose readings twice a day, My DN calls me each week for the results and ups my units slightly, I keep resilts in a log book/ How long does this go on for re weekly calls is it forever or until one of us pegs it ?

Hi,

Do you only use Teujeo?
Giving you my honest personal opinion. As an insulin using Type 1.
A sensor would be a better tool to fill in the gaps between 2 BG tests a day.

Toujeo is a concentrated (3x) long acting insulin, a version of lantus. (Edited to add, 3 times stronger than lantus, but the active ingredient is the same glargine.)

Toujeo® Max Solostar® is a 900 Unit pen with concentrated insulin, that can fit up to 3X more insulin in the same-size standard pen, which may mean fewer pens, injections, refills, and co-pays. See Important Safety Information.

The trouble with moving onto insulin is that you have no idea what initial dose you need so the dose has to start low and gradually be increased. My guess (and I stress that this is a guess) is that your DN is waiting till your levels to stabilise at whatever level she is aiming for, before she reduces the review frequency.

Yes only Toujeo. and a sensor would not be any use my phone is as old as me

Not sure about other brands, but libre can give you a reader device if you don't have a compatible phone.

What does Glargine mean and the other names after different brands of Insulin, is it a trade mark or how it is produced ?
