Hi everyone its been a while since I last joined in, boy its changed!
Basically I had my hospital appointment today with the diabetes endocrinology specialist and she said the same as her colleague in October I definitely have Reactive Hypoglycaemia, probably late post prandial, but my morning blood sugar levels are slipping into 5.8 as high as 6.3 on occasion so I could be prediabetic and will probably become type 2 in time. Just got told keep an eye on it.
But what I forgot to ask is this going to make it worse or better? My mum waz type 2 dad type1 I've had rh for as long as I can remember. But diabetes the sugar is high, and rh goes too low so will it even out or get more eratic?

Diet only
My experience was that my RH improved significantly as my T2 arrived.

But... throughout that period I was always tweaking my diet - always in ways that I hoped would help.
There was the homemade veg soup phase
and the green smoothie phase
and the 80% raw phase...
It is also hard to make a comparison because back in those days (around 2010) I didn't even know that bg meters could be bought, so I don't know how low my lows actually went.

I still think that diet is the key - and it is perfectly possible (but no guarantees) that by properly controlling your RH and excessive insulin release by low carbing, you may delay the onset of T2 for decades, if not forever.

Hope that helps.

Thanks @Brunneria that sounds hopeful. I had worries it would get worse.
I've found very low carb is working best at the moment. I did attempt no carb for 2 months and my blood sugar levels just got lower and lower no matter how often I ate. I was getting really ill and any cab was making me spin, so its a bit steadier now that I'm just doing low.

Hi again,
If you were to become prediabetic, the answer would be the same, the treatment is low carb and good control.
I have what you've called late post prandial RH, it's just another label.
Do you feel relieved now you have a diagnosis? I know I did!
I think @Brunneria has covered it.
Good to see you back!

Yes definitely. the dr in October said it was suggestive of it and carry on with the dietitian as if I were, continue testing etc. I knew I had it anyway. It was frustrating having a 5 minute appointment today saying my own tests in October proved it.
But just knowing its not ms or anything more serious is wonderful.
I have late post prandial reactive hypoglycaemia. Except if i actually eat sugar/sweets then its quicker. So i don't go near sugar now.
