Hi All,

Had a fasting reading of 9.0mmol/L at 7.45 this morning and dissappointed. Slightly late night and restless, normal readings around 5.8 to 6.8. Had 50g of mixed nuts (almonds, pecans, hazlenuts and 1 brazil) and at 8.10 reading was 5.8. Did an immediate retest on another finger and 5.6 so last 2 readings assumed accurate(ish). Question is, is it possible to have a drop of 3.2 over 25 minutes especially after eating something or is it probable or even nailed on that the 9.0 was a false reading (hands were clean, unless remnants of handwash affected things). Thanks.

Too late now to know if the 9 was a rogue reading, I would have retested after the 9. I guess just see what tomorrow fasting brings.

Thanks Rachox. Another lesson learnt by me. Will test straight after next time but didn't think this time until I realised I had been concerned about it for 20 mins or so before doing another test. Glad I did tho as went to work far happier!

I always retest if I get something unexpected, high or low. I got a 2.9 fasting the other day :wideyed:, I tested straight away again and got a far more expected 5.2!

It is my theory, yet to be disproved, that all meters are programmed to give at least one ridiculous reading per pot/cassette of strips to entice you to do a retest and thus waste a strip. If you don't retest almost immediately some meters are programmed to give you these readings more often.

Now, shall I tell you my theory on the Moon landings...................o_O
