Hello.

Has anyone else noticed a rubbery taste off the metformin tablets lately?

Dont mean an after-taste but off the tablets themselves?

The only time I noticed a different taste was when I accidentally grabbed the (hot) cup of tea instead of the water I had standing next to it. It didn't taste nice.

Always whack mine down fast , So no i have not noticed this ?
I take all my tablets with tonic water ,that also helps to cut any nasty tastes out
Becoming a old hand at downing tablets , 54 a day now :?

You can get some real nasty tablets if you leave them in your mouth tad too long and the coating starts to dissolve

Hiya, when I briefly tried metformin [4 days] couldnt tolerate it at all, I had a strong metallic taste in my mouth with it bit like had been sucking a coin for ages is the accurate discription... it was awful. Not as awful as being violently sick for 14 hours throughout the night n ending up worn out n fit for nothing the next 3 days... Nope that drug did me no favours at all. Allthough with some people its fantastic with them. Anna.x :)

Thanks all, just seems to the latest batch has this taste, tablet would barely be in my mouth a second before its washed down.

I too don't leave tablets in my mouth long enough for them to leave a taste so have no idea what metformin taste like.

I did have to take a drink when in hospital as my potassium levels dropped after being intubated and that my throat almost refused to take, it was the single worst thing I have ever tasted. The nurses told me to mix it 50/50 with undiluted orange squash to make it more palatable. :(

Worst ever taste for me has to be the amoxylin sachets you mix in water and have to drink 1hour prior to dental treatment, it makes me gag its so bad.... Anna.x

I agree Sid it really is vile stuff. I used blackcurrent squash to make it a bit better.
