Hi can anyone advice me, I have stupidly run out of meds and my doctors doesnt open on Saturdays. I take 2 metformin morning and night. Does anyone know what I can do or will I be ok waiting untill Monday ?

here in northern ireland we have an out of hours doctor system but if your in the rest the of the uk I think its called NHS direct you should phone they will advise you what to do.
the only other suggesstion is if you always use the same chemist to pick up your meds they might let you borrow enough met to see you threw the weekend the chemist I use has done this before.

I don't think it will hurt you not to have them for a couple of days, but you might get the side effects when you start again on Monday. Watch your carb intake to control your bg levels - but you're not going to die! :D

If you use the same pharmacy for your prescriptions go and have a word with the pharmacist and they will probably let you have 5 days supply to get you through.
You will probably have to sign for them and maybe even pay, but they do have the discretion to help in such cases.
Once you have got this sorted out it might be worth you setting up a repeat service, where the pharmacist in conjunction with your GP work together, and all you have to do is go and collect them on prearranged days before the last lot run out.

I have forgotten to take mine before and have been OK for a couple of days!
Don't ask how I forgot - not sure myself!

Thanks everyone, remembered I had kept a couple at my mum. So have enough to half dose untill Monday when I can get in touch with the Doc. Will just reduce carbs a bit more as well.

As long as your sorted Lynmi, I would have gone along to your usual pharmacy and asked the pharmacist if he could let you have a pack until your prescription is ordered, provided your on their system I can't see no harm in trying.
