Hi, does anyone have any experience re: having diabetes and travelling/living/getting supplies in the Middle East, particularly Saudi?

Any info gratefully received :D

thanks, Deborah

great, thanks CR! got your PM, will check it out......

Whatever you do, make sure you've got a very detailed doctor's note that covers every single bit of medical stuff. I hear they're kinda strict about bringing medicine or anything that might look a bit like drugs into the country. And considering they've arrested people for having a poppy seed in a trouser hem, or a piece of dirt on a shoe that looked like cannabis resin, you can't be too careful!

thanks, could you please tell me why I need that particular cooler? is it a medical requirement?

you must take a insulin cooler box with you , that is important, or one cooler bag

you only need a cooler if you are going for more than a month insulin is ok for that long out of the fridge,

Sorry Rogbert.
That is not correct.........Outside of the refrigerator, insulin should be kept as cool as possible and out of direct sunlight.

Make sure it is not stored in temperatures over 86 deg Fahrenheit / 30 deg C. In Saudi Arabia am sure that the temp can be much hotter unless you are in an Air-conditioned room.

You should always refer to the patient information leaflet for your specific insulin product for the exact storage guidelines for your particular insulin. The above is only a guideline.
