Screening tests for T2 diabetes

The FBG test may be a cheaper option when it comes to paying the laboratory, but isn't so cost effective within the Practice because of the necessity of offering early morning appointments to candidates. This can be costly to the Practice if long waiting times are to be avoided.

I don't understand why more use isn't made of 'instant' HBa1C tests in larger surgeries. When I had an operation last year the hospital did an HBa1C test in about 15 minutes. I dodn't know how much the equipment costs but it's the best test and avoids multiple visits, the FBG test and so on.
