SECOND HBA1c's

Hi folks, went in for my colonoscopy last Friday at the MRI. Upon arrival took straight through and had my bloods checked (21.2). They said they would prefer to have had them a bit lower (6 - 12 mmol) but they said they would do it anyway. Last thing i remember is the nurse saying "you don't look very well hazey". When i came round i was strapped to all sorts of machines and was on oxygen too. From all accounts i had had a very bad fit whilst sedated. they also did aN ECG (s..t myself). They asked me do i normally have fits when i'm asleep and i said i don't know i'm normally asleep !! Anyway after about 10 hours and visits by numerous doctors i made them let me go home, they wanted me to stay in for observations over night but i wasn't having that. The funny thing is that when they pull that curtain around your bed it's as if they think you can't hear them. They were going mad about the levels of my bloods but no one came and said anything to me !!!

OK i've been for my second bloods this morning and he said that i was making good progress it was down from 13.4 to 12.6 (he actually smiled for once). He did however put me on Glimepiride (2mg) as well as the metformin SR, he warned me that i could now have a hypo, (yeah right, more chance of me walking to the moon), and he told me not to drive my car or motor bike for a couple of days to see how i get on. I've now got to test before my breakfast and my evening meal now and "if" i feel ill, (i'll never be off it then). I actually tested one of my work colleagues yesterday to make sure the machine isn't stuck on 11 and above (ha ha funny eh, not) and it actually registered at 4.7, needless to say i slapped her for having such good sugar levels (only joking, i was jealous really). I've got to go and see him again, (GP), in 2 weeks time for my wonderful results, (i know sarcasm is the lowest form of wit but it's also the funniest), so anyone who's remotely interested watch this space !!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry to bore you all but i've got it off my chest again.

REGARDS AND BEST WISHES TO YOU ALL

Appreciate any info on the Glimepiride please

Well thank God your finally getting something done about your sugar levels! I hope you told them in hospital about that doctor of yours!

Hi Hazey, not only do doctors think that you cant hear them when the curtains are pulled but I am fed up of feeling like a two year old when I'm told that my Hba1c is too high. I was back at the eye hospital today after having another bleed and made to feel like it was all my fault. Yes I know my bs needs to come down and I know that all these clinical trials show that better control means less complications but I am trying.
Sorry about moaning, I'm just having a bad week (and its only monday!) :(

Hi sugarpie, i can really relate to your feelings i have several weeks where i sometimes wonder if it's really worth it because we all try so hard to control what we have, it just doesn't help when you don't seem to be getting the professional help you drastically need. Told by my GP that by tea time tonight my levels would be really low because of the Glimepiride i started this morning, (15.9 before my tea), yeah they were really low, not. So chin up because we've all been there and you'll get great support from the people on this site.

Sarahq, yeah i know what you're saying but it's just the way my mum put my hat on i've been brought up to get on with it no matter how bad things are although i don't always agree with it but thanx for the support anyway.

BEST WISHES AND TAKE CARE TO YOU ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
