Hi everyone,I am a newbie .My thought is what do you all find at the DRs when you try and book into see your GP .I cant book into mine at all they don't let us see the one we wont ,they wont let us book an appointment more than 4 weeks ahead ,even if i saw the DR and he says see me in 6 weeks i still cant book into see him until its 4 weeks or less, this is crazy I think its so important to see the same GP when posable for continuity of care .dose anyone else have this problems with their surgery ?

I haven't seen a Dr for about a year. My surgery now have this thing where you phone at 8.30am for an appointment for the Dr to call you back. The doctor chats to you then decides if they need to see you. I have spoken to several different ones. Im not even sure who MY Dr is!

I always see the same nurse for my Diabetes. I don't like the other diabetic nurse at the surgery, she suggested after 6 months following NHS dietary advice that I should get a gastric band as I hadn't lost any weight! Im fat but not enough to get a gastric band on the NHS!

I also can only book an appointment 4 weeks in advance, so when she says see me in 3 months I have to note down to book it in 2 months.

I cat even see a doctor at my surgery I have to see nurse practitioners which I don't mind if its for something small but when it's diabetes related I think we should be able to see a doctor instead of having to go 4 times to see the nurse before being allowed to see a doctor even then I can't see my doctor cause she only does 8 appointments a week and they get taken with in seconds of them going on the system

Thanks Gemma ,I use to see a nurse practitioner in my last practice ,and I agree with you for silly things they are fine but for Diabetes things i wont my GP .I think some of these practices have a lot to answer for in the way they treat their patients .Thanks Gemma

Matt my surgery it'd hard to see any doctor other than the one you are assigned to. I wanted to see a female Dr for lady problems and Eastwood I'd have to have a double appointment for some odd reason.

I think actually sometimes the nurse practitioners have more specialised knowledge than a gp

I'm lucky I get to see my gp most of the time and always see the same consultant and diabetic nurse.
