Serious Pig snacks

think you'll just end up with mini cup cake shapes (now theres a thought.....baked cheese and chorizo cupcake!), may be a tube of some kind, you'd get the 'roll' but not the slight bend/dip......

How do you describe the shape of a Pringle?

@PenfoldAPD apologies also ;)
Wow what an idea.. off to get some chorizo and a microwave....oops

or drape them over a rolling pin?

That's certainly a good shape.

For me, personally, my rolling pins are wooden, so might end up being stained or tainted with the flavour. I'd also rather avoid anything plastic.

I'm sure there are loads of options out there, but i'm keep to do the proof of concept from something I already have.

My only reservation is if they're too crispy, they might snap under the weight of the scooped up deliciousness. Of course that could just be trimming a few seconds off the timing.

@PenfoldAPD - Would you like me to move all these chorizo crisps posts moved off to a new thread, please let me know.

You are all evil tempters/temptresses!

I made some of those chorizo crisps this morning (11.30am) purely and simply because I had been reading this thread.

Did half the pack at a time. 1st half was a little under-crisped (80 secs in a 900W oven). gave them to Mr B
2nd half was perfick (90 secs). Ate those myself (I am good like that)

Three problems - i) loved them, and am now annoyed we have no more chorizo slices, ii) very salty which will hopefully mean I can't eat too many at once, iii) have a slightly swollen lip where the spices attacked a chapped area (head butted by an overenthusiastic hound while playing tug o war last night using - O the irony! - a string of plastic sausages ona rope)

The chorizo crisps would make fab dippers to scoop up cheese sauce type stuff or salza.

Yay, more than happy this thread has been taken over if we’ve all discovered Chorizo crisps!

Love the recipes here, now ... need to buy a microwave ;)

I have just tried making the chorizo crisps. Very tasty but for some reason much saltier than the chorizo. Luckily there was no beer to hand or I could have got into a disastrous crisp-beer-crisp-beer spiral.

I'm pretty certain you could do them in an oven, or under the grill, but maybe just not quite in 90 seconds, pluss cooling torture time.

I agree Costa is low carb hell but I am not sure pork snacks go with coffee. What could I have when my wife is munching a muffin or a flapjack?

Indeed. My wife is a member of a number of Ladies groups. Imagine at the Townswomen's Guild coffee and cake morning..... 'Good morning Mrs Frobisher, would you like some lemon drizzle or a serious pig snackingham classic?'

I have bad news.

Turns out that you can make crisps from salami, salchichon, hungarian paprika sausage, and assorted saucisson.

My research continues...

Oh drat. That revelation is a secret I'd been keeping from myself. ;)

Oh, and for the Pringles effect, one can wrap a rolling pin in the silicone sheet, baking tray liner, lay it on kitchen roll and microwave. Our micro is turntable-free, so the rolling pin can't be troubled by the rotation.

I reserve the right to retain all intellectual property rights to the invention, but would be willing to license it's use in exchange for a reassuringly exorbitant fee. @bulkbiker can have mate's rates as he did mumble the words rolling pin along the way.

I've just remembered I left some chorizo crisps in the microwave last night.................I know I know - how the hell do you do that!!?!?!?!? :***: And sadly I'm at work so can't get to them, and the daughter will be home from school way before I get home. :arghh:

Does not compute. Does not compute.

(I expect they'll be soggy, which is even more of a tragedy!)
