Set change this morning now BG is high!

Thank you for the tip.

Feel a bit despondent this evening. Meant to have the night out but cancelled due to a bent cannula :banghead: I just didn't feel confident going out when my BG was so high and having no idea whether it would go up or down or whether the new set I'd put in had gone pear-shaped, too.

I've just been googling and it appears cannulas kinking under the skin can be a major issue for a lot of people. I'm worried now that I'm just going to be replacing hypos with hypers.

I've read that the silhouette can be better for slim people. I'm very slim. Is it worth asking my nurse about this?

I think the Silhouette might be easier to insert without an inserter and it goes in at ac30 degree angle so the cannula should not kink, but some dont like the look of the introducer needle. Try not to be put off as only about 8mm of the introducer needle enters the skin, the rest of it is housed inside tge set housing. Once the introducer needle is withdrawn, the cannula is left inside the body. You can numb the skin off a bit by using a pack of frozen peas against the skin for a few mins prior to insertion so you wont feel the introducer when it goes in.

If you can remember thst is, try to insert a set just before eating and do usual bolus. If bg goes to 12 to 15mmol 2hrs later, then its either carb count not correct, bolus not rught rstio or basal needing sdjusting. If very very high correction with pump might need increasing for good measure but if that doesnt work, then for sure its insulin pen and increased correction and replace set when possible.

Spot on...
