OK, this is the place for us to share what works for us.

I have about 80-100g of carbs a day, spread over 4 or 5 meals. I aim to keep under 1500 cals a day as i need to keep losing weight.

I eat only animal fats, or extra virgin cold-pressed olive oil, and a bit of sunflower oil if nothing else is available.

I eat about 70g of protein a day (I think)

I am Type 2 on diet and 1 x 500mg metformin SR a day.

At the moment under 20g of carbs around 55-75g protein under 30g fat. Total calories under 600 a day. This will change as from next Monday when I am back on a LCHF diet, as I'm on the last week of the Newcastle diet. Perhaps my figures are not very helpful

Thanks Lucy. I am looking forward to the end of it now. 7 1/2 weeks is a long time, and I now want to get back to proper meals, instead of shakes.

It certainly has. FBG's always in the 4's and +2 hour meals never ever higher than 6.0. I don't test before a meal, but when I did they were always in the 4's. Figures are all on my diary page in the weight loss forum.

So Lucy's diet looks like this:
st1j.png

Which looks to me like the perfect balance - 20% carb, 16% protein is exactly what Paul Jaminet suggests...

That pie chart is scary!!! I am still struggling to move on from decades of being afraid of fats.

Too lazy to write it out when I've already done it on here.
This is my diet as reported on here some years ago, being a creature of habit it hasn't changed a lot; indeed I had almost the same menu on Saturday. My carbs do vary between this level and about 180.
T1 (maybe 1.5 as the doc said)

Fasting BS 84 (4.6mmol)
porridge 38carbs ( edit :40g of oatmeal, made up to 250-60ml with milk, now I add mixed berries)
2hour BS 102 (5.6mmol)

pre lunch BS 61 (3.3mmol)
sourdough multi cereal bread (edited normally about 70g)
low fat cammebert about 40gm
huge mixed salad, vinaigrette dressing
2 kiwi fruit
50 carbs

pre dinner (before cooking ) BS 60 (3.3 mmol)
a few cheese straws whilst cooking 'cos BS a little low (didn't count them in carbs for bolus)
(mentioned doing that to doctor, she doesn't approve... too high fat)
fish/herb pesto
asparagus
broccoli
new potatoes ( edit:150-20g depending on how hungry I am, actually tend towards the lower nowadays)
strawberry/peach fruit salad with a bit of 'squirty' cream.
2 bits 76% chocolate (never count this in my total carbs)
red wine ( a couple of glasses)
60 carbs
(total carbs 148 +)
3 hours after dinner 80 (4.4mmol)

This morning 84(4.6mmol)
Breakfast 38gm carb reduced bolus insulin to try to make BS higher for run.
also cut basal to .1 unit an hour for 2.5 hours.
2 hour 145 (8mmol)
5 mile run (after 30min 74,(4.1mmol) 1dextrose : 4 carbs)
pre lunch 51 (2.8mmol) ( a bit low so should have had another dextrose

Just realise the blood glucose readings on here were from a whole blood meter so are about 11% lower than they would be on a modern meter.
My HbA1c has varied over the 7 years from 4.9%- 5.9% (mainly about 5.7% recently) Rather fewer hypos nowadays, better at avoiding them.
sorry, didn't work out exact ratios.

My pie chart (gosh I used to drool even saying pie) is the same as BF's.

Almost too scared to write mine down...

Breakfast - 60g full fat cheddar cheese

Lunch - 200g smoked salmon. Handfull of lettuce leaves. Lemon juice and black pepper.

Supper - Homemade steak burger (no bun obvviously), spinach, fried mushroom (with butter) and half an avacado.
Pudding - Sugar free strawberry jelly.

Most days breakfast and lunch stay the same.... boring but works for me! :D

Thank you Phoenix.

Possibly stupid question: are all T1's on insulin?
Yes, they don't have much (if any) insulin of their own. The insulin producing cells are normally killed off by an autoimmune 'attack'
T1.5 , really in my case LADA : a slower developing form, rather than the quicker developing form that younger people have. I had had it for 3 years (+) before I got too ill to avoid going to the doctors and an official diagnosis.

Looked back through my spreadsheet and picked what I consider to be an average day

Breakfast: 50g Greek Yoghurt + 25g Strawberry
Lunch: 3 Rashers Bacon, 2 Fried Eggs + 100g of Mushrooms
Dinner: Chicken, Broccoli & Stilton Pie + 250g of Mixed Veg + 10g Knob of Butter on the Veg
Snack: 1 Slice Burgen with 10g Real Butter + 30g Peanut Butter

100ml Semi Skimmed Milk for tea and coffee

So on that average day it amounts to roughly

Fat: 131.5g
Carbs: 69.5g
Protein: 113.8g

So calorie wise that's 131.5 x 9 + 69.5 x 4 + 113.8 x 4 = 1916.7 calories

Ratio wise then its roughly a 62% Fat, 14% Carb, 24% Protein diet or LCHF

Of that 14% Carbs intake roughly 60% is coming from vegetables.

Overall I am eating only 3% of my intake as starchy carbs (the one slice of Burgen bread)

Trying to stabilise BGs to help sort eye problems by lowish? carbing. Struggling with higher fat intake after years of avoiding it but am eating a bit more cheese and cream. Working on general fitness as have a lot of weight to lose by walking and cycling but this is making BGs drop, so not stable!

Breakfast
150g greek yoghurt
2 tbsps raw oats
100g raspberries
About 20g carb

Lunch
Salad of mixed leaves, pepper, cucumber, onion, cherry tomatoes
7.5ml sweet chilli dressing
protein - 2 steak burger or 2 sausages or 60g smoked salmon or cheese and mushroom omelette
combination of strawberries or raspberries, cream, fromage frais and jelly (depending on what available and carb content of protein serving)
About 20g carb

Dinner
Yesterday:
Chicken curry
Cauliflower and spinach (dryish) curry
Corn Bread
Jelly & Cream

Today:
Bolognese with grated carrot, courgettes and muchrooms
Strawberries

Tomorrow:
2 Sausages
Roast Veg
Jelly & Cream

Thursday:
Trout & Salad
Raspberries & Jelly

All about 20g carb

Yesterday and today added an apple during/after exercise. BGs had swung too low from my nornal range (currently running mid 6s) to be considered stable. Trying to keep within 2mmol either side of this at all times (including 1hr pp) while waiting for average reading to come down! Not always successful but getting pretty close.

About 1/2 pint semi-skimmed milk in tea.

No idea of calories, protein and fat but weight is coming off steadily so something's working!

I wouldn't know what my carb count is...

I'm eating to my plate with 1/4 protein, 1/4 slow release such as sweet potato or new potatoes or small baked potatoe with butter and the final 1/2 made up of greens, sweet peppers & tomatoes etc.

snacks are usually a couple of carrots cut up into batons with a small pot of humous or an apple or a pack of wholewheat baked crisps

breakfast is meusli with blueberries and normal full fat milk

lunch is 4 slices of ryvita (rye) with spready cheese and sometimes some sliced ham.

Usually manage to get 1 1/2 miles walk in at lunch as well.

the weight's still coming off at about 1 1/2 pounds a week and I'm not feeling hungry or tired either :)

BG levels are usually 5 to 6.5 before a meal and 7.5 to 8 2 hours later

My typical day:

Half a slice of rye bread with ham or the like.
or
Greek yoghurt with 2 teaspoons rolled oats, roasted almonds
or
2 eggs with some bacon dices

10g carb

A slice of rye bread with herring or salmon or ham with a good deal of fresh veggies (Cumcumber, green pepper, bit of onions, lettuce)
or
Whatever is for lunch at work avoiding the bread/pasta to make up for the sauces etc, adding as many veggies as I can get away with.

20-25g carb

Stir-fry with spring onions, mushrooms, green pepper, brocolli, cauliflower...
or
Omelette type thing with 2-3 eggs, cheese, sausage/bacon, lots of spinach/brocolli, bit of onion
or
Fish or steak with veggies, fried, steamed or in oven with some butter or cream.
sometimes I want some carb with it - so I have a small amount of brown pasta or rice.

10-20g carb

Milk/cream for coffee maybe 100ml
Handful of almonds
85 percent chocolate in serious moderation
1 serving of fruit 1-2 times a week - raspberries mostly.

When I exercise, I have an unripe banana if I'm starting to get low - when they're mainly green, they don't do anything bad to my blood sugar - if they go ripe before I eat them, they get thrown out.

40-75g carb depending on menu, hunger and desire for carb.

Once every other week or so, I'll have a higher carb meal and cover with spilt bolus insulin to avoid spikes. I can't entirely give up that at the moment, and I do have the 'advantage' of insulin.

My calories are probably around 1500-1700 most days. It seems to work to a sensible degree.

Typical day

Breakfast - Omlette/mushrooms

Lunch - chicken salad, coleslaw

Dinner - Basa with veg or salad

Average cals 1000-1200
Carbs 40-50g
Protein 60-80g
Fat 70g

Weekend will see an Indian takeway and bottle of wine

So based on taking the mid points of your ranges you posted here's you Mary ....

Here's yours Phoenix.

Had to make a few guestimates but using figures off http://fatsecret.com I re-calculated your carbs entirely and got to 146.5 (without the cheese straws  ) so only 2.5 away from your own calculation. Fat was 58.6 and Protein 80.2. If you think its horribly wrong just say so and I'll delete.
