Sharing a bit of 'chuffedness'

Currently in a happy place and thought I'd share the joy :) .

After a diagnosis in mid-October, that had BG sky high and cholesterol at 7.8, a big improvement at the end of November with A1C at 8.7 (high but sharply trending in the right direction) and cholesterol at 4.5 (ditto), the full results are in from a further blood test at end of January:

Total Cholesterol: 4mmol/L (I didn't note down the HDL/non-HDL split but my DM Practitioner seemed delighted. I'll check next time)

HbA1c: 5.8%

Kidney, Liver, and Thyroid function all normal.

No more nursey blood tests for 6 months. No requirement for finger-pricking other than 'just cause' or random sample.

I realise this isn't a 'hit the target once' scenario and that things may change in time but I'm currently eating, exercising and living in a very enjoyable and sustainable manner so here's to the future.

Great results :) the only thing I would say is to continue with the finger prick testing, the NHS advice of no need to test isn’t the best advice. How do you know what you are eating isn’t affecting your BG? It’s very easy to slip back into complacency if you don’t know what your number are, I’m 14 years in and still test on a regular basis, especially when I eat a meal I’ve not had before. Now and then I will do full testing for a couple of weeks just to make sure that my tried & tested meals are still ok for me

But great results well done

I agree...hence the random sampling. I suspect I'll be a bit like you have described; unusual meals and regular, but much less, stabbing!
