Diabetes!!!
Hi, I've been diagnosed since May with 1.5/LADA. I'm currently taking sitagliptin and gliclazide(I think it's called that hahaha)

I have been training hard and eating well and I managed to keep my bloods between 5 and 9 although very erratic however the last 2 days I have been well over 10 in fact I just had 22.8 I few ashes my hands and did my other hand which gave me 18.6... Also I did my ketones and this can back at 0.6 should I be worried?

Contact your diabetes team. I think (but I'm no medic) that it may be time for insulin.

Hi. As you may know LADA will typically develop to the point where insulin is needed. If your meter reading start to go into 20s frequently and/or your HBA1C goes above 7.5%'ish, then the time for insulin has probably arrived. I moved to insulin when my HBA1C rocketed to 8.4% from around 7% and I really needed it a year earlier. Do ask for insulin if your reading keep moving up. You are on the right tablets for LADA and I'm afraid insulin is the next step but I have found it a relief so don't worry.

Seen my GP today my bloods back to 9 this morning he has referred me back to the DSN they are going to start me on insulin... Some interesting times ahead I think..

Insulin has been the best thing for me. Just a pain for driving. Hope it is as simple for you. I know it's a big change but control should improve.

Your control will improve, totally, with insulin. If you dose carefully and test what you eat, no reason to fear insulin. Have you read Dr Bernstein?
