Has any one had problems with the collection of sharp boxes also what do other diabetics do with their used test strips because l'm a project manager of a charity within Liverpool where we are having problems with the collection of sharps boxes. Can any one help :D

Hi Johnbobs

I have already asked this question a while ago as i live in liverpool and am havin probs as well.

I can actually get them to collect and replace my sharps box but they replace it with a wheeliebin type yellow thing, not the small one i originally had. There reasoning behind this is that they only want to collect it once every 3 to 4 months!!!!!

I must admit my used strips i also put in the sharps box

Hope this helps

Unfortunatel you may be classed as a Commercial Organisation. Local Councils have a duty to provide free clinical waste collection but to Domestic Households only.
Here is some information for your area. You need to speak to the Council on the number given.

Clinical Waste
Liverpool City council will collect commercial clinical waste from businesses but a charge will be made for this service.
Commercial waste
Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, businesses have a duty of care for all their waste, including general rubbish and things that can be recycled. Liverpool City Council can only provide free services for household waste collections. For all commercial businesses, a charge will be made for waste removal.

For more information, please contact Liverpool Direct on 233 3001.

Hi Johnbobs,

There was a discussion on sharps bins on here a few weeks ago. You might want to have a look
