Sheilding Update??

Apart from one or two persons the only people I have seen locally wearing masks are those waiting for a bus.

I went to the local park yesterday tentatively and in the evening, of the people in the park who all where a good distance from me I made sure of that, I was the only one with a mask and gloves.
My daughter had booked for Tenerife in August.
The three of them are hoping they cant go, because they will be wearing face coverings for hours at the airport and on the plane.
If they turn off the aircon, as they are at some offices now, it is going to be hot on the plane.

@Brunneria exactly. Wearing a face covering because that’s what they are, not proper masks-and then not wearing them properly and constantly fiddling with it is posturing. Put it on, don’t touch it or your face, bin it or put it in a bag to wash. Then scrub/sanitise your hands. If you are not doing that it is totally pointless. And unless you are wearing a proper mask-which we are not supposed to be- they will not stop you getting it anyway. The virus still comes through. Being vigilant is standing apart from people, constantly washing your hands, not crowding into places and following one way systems in shops. I firmly believe not wearing a face covering makes people stick to that more. Wearing a face covering makes people think they are safe. They are not.

The WHO actually do recommend diabetics wearing a medical mask. The U.K. Government don’t. Whilst it doesn’t provide a fool proof barrier would you rather someone else’s virus ridden saliva be expelled onto/into your mouth and nose directly or have a barrier of a mask/covering to catch the majority of it? The virus whilst small enough to pass through is carried on droplets which generally will be caught by coverings.
You’re right about not fiddling and not being complacent as a result of wearing them and I agree some people think it makes them superman but please don’t assume that’s everyone who wears a mask. Quite frankly it’s insulting that those doing their best to maximise their own protection and on doing so behalf of other’s health are considered to be “posturing“. They may be making mistakes but that’s quite different.

As I said elsewhere when I dropped Judith off to work this morning every one was wearing masks that's because without one you can't get in the building it's a hospital from what I could see all where wearing masks and face coverings properly and no one was posturing.
