You are unlikely to get a BG meter from a doctor in the UK unless you have been prescribed sulphonylureas such as gliclazide tablets as these can cause BG to drop too low and cause 'hypos'.
Others on here will I'm sure suggest 'best buys' and sources for buying one. It's not just the cost of the meter you need to think about - you also have to factor in the the cost of the consumables such as test strips and finger prickers. Some meters are cheap but consumables for them are expensive, so you need to compare.
You say you are 'from India' , are you in India or the UK ?
