Should be happy but feeling slightly disappointed.

I received the results of my annual blood test in the post this morning and as the title says I should be happy but feel slightly disappointed.

My HbA1c has only dropped from 38 to 37 which is the source of my disappointment as this equates to a reading of 6.2 mmol/L. This is quite a bit higher than my meters 90 day average reading, but it is within the accuracy quoted. Maybe I need to cut down a few more carbs. My blood pressure was 100/73 which is good and my cholesterol is down from 4.6 to 3.7 which is pretty good. I don't have the HDL/LDL split nor the triglycerides but will ask for these when I see the DSN. My eGFR is stable at 60 which is a little low, but unchanged from last year.

My review with the DSN is in 10 days, so we'll see what she has to say then.

yikes! dissapointed? no way! thats brilliant progress mate, be happy and proud :) although i could never disagree with reducing carbs, your doing great :)

Sorry you're not feeling more positive about your HbA1c. Sounds good to me - don't be so hard on yourself. By the sounds of it all other test results are going in the right direction too.
Maybe consider when you are testing (times of day - enough post-prandial etc) for a truer 90 day average next time around? Perhaps it is the fact that you don't have the control you thought you had, rather than the actual result itself that is making you feel a little blue?
Onward and upward - you're doing a great job.;)

Thanks chaps and chapesses.

I suspect my meter reads a little low which shouldn't be too surprising as I've had a few readings in the 3s which I suspect is unusual for a diet controlled T2 although I did get a light headed feeling which is what made me test at those times anyway. I'll look at my diet and see where a few more carbs can be cut out as I suspect that might improve things. I'll speak to my DSN about the eGFR results to see if anything can be done to improve that. Also as it's been 9 months between tests, I'll see if my DSN will agree to my HbA1c being tested more frequently.

As you all say, onwards and upwards.

What a brilliant result!! You were quite low before that too so not much room for improvement ... Don't lose sight of that. Consistency in the right direction. I'm sure you have elements you can tweak if you want to lower it a little more. Well done!!
