I’ve been using the Shuggah app for a while now
I changed my sensor yesterday (libre 2 plus) & the new sensor will not connect to shuggah,
The Shuggah app is not on the App Store anymore either I have emailed them but no reply as yet
Is anybody still using the app?
Mine was working g until yesterday
Thank you

Shuggah is a ripped off version of Xdrip4ios. They copied it then started charging for it. Zukka is an identical copy, but agreed with the Xdrip4ios developers and free. But I think it may have disappeared from the App Store recently.

This is the Facebook group for Xdrip4ios. They can’t help with queries regarding Shuggah. But from time to time they offer places on their own developments (but it is a rule of the group that you have to wait for one to be offered, you can’t post asking for one). They also give instructions on how to build it if you are tech savvy.

I am a massive Shuggah fan and I’m part way through the life of a libre so it is still working for me but I’m dismayed to hear a problem might be round the corner.

Have you been able to connect to Zukka at all, especially with the Apple Watch?

I too have contacted Shuggah in the light of what’s been said in order to clarify.

Further update from me … I found the Zukka app when I searched for “Shuggah”. It came up under that search in App Store.

I’ve downloaded it and got everything working on my iPhone, attached it to day 8 of existing sensor and got it to pipe through to my Apple Watch.

The only thing I’m missing is being able to attach it as a big complication on a modular watch face so you could tap on it and get very big writing on your Apple Watch saying what your current blood sugar is (which is what you did with Shuggah). I found this really useful when I was out walking. I can’t see the bit on the watch app that enables me to do it. But at least I’ve got some functionality. Albeit small lettering.

On previous posts on the same topic, some of you brilliant tech experts out there have sussed out these glitches and updated the rest of us. So I’m hoping someone will come along and know what to do.

@Paulaah just a question about Zukka. Whilst using Zukka and getting readings on your Apple Watch, can you still get continuous readings on LibreLink too?

Hi Rachox,

Mmmm ….the answer is I’m not sure because I still start my libre with the handset. I think Debbiescott might have a view on that as every time this topic comes up us same forum members get involved and I think that aspect has been mentioned before.

I myself have only just been allocated a DSN last week (hurrah - she’s marvellous), and as I’m now sharing libre graphs she’s asked me to start my next sensor with my phone so that we don’t get any gaps in data.

So I will know more about your question in just over a weeks’ time.

You can’t have Bluetooth enabled for both and have reliable connections according to the team that developed the software.. So you can’t get continuous readings in Shuggah/zukka/xdrip4ios. But you can still scan manually at intervals to keep the data on libreview.

Ah thank you, that’s very helpful.

I had Bluetooth connected to both libre & Shuggah but turned alarms off on libre so I didn’t get any notifications, still not got Shuggah back but still logging exercise & carbs in the hope I get it back

Is that Zukka? I’m finding with the libre 2+ that I need to scan a few times to get it to connect but it does then connect.

I assume it works when you scan in librelink?

You could try asking on the Facebook group I linked above.

Yes zukka this morning, tried about 20 times deleted libre app to scan, kept getting same message as Shuggah
Back to keep checking phone to see blood sugar

If it won’t scan in Shuggah or librelink then it sounds like the sensor might be faulty.

I just wish Abbot would make the LibreLink compatible with Apple Watches, but as with everything techy, they don’t seem very forward thinking :(

I agree. I love having my blood sugar on my watch, and also on apple car play when I’m driving.

The sensor is working on the libre app without having to scan, it just won’t connect to any 3rd party app,
Missing getting blood sugar readings on phone & garmin watch

This thread has renewed my wish for LibreLink to be compatible with Apple Watch. I have emailed Abbott asking basically have they got plans to develop this?

I was wondering if you turn the blue tooth off in librelink can you then scan it manually? If you can it shows that the NFC scan works, so then that’s not the problem with scanning in Shuggah. If you can’t then I’m not an expert but I think there may be an issue either with the sensor, or your phone scanning.

Also I’d double check the scanning in Shuggah while Bluetooth is off in librelink just to exclude that as the problem. Finally the old answer, try turning the phone off and on again if you haven’t already done that.
