Skin problems?

Over the last five months my feet have completely dried out and are so sore with deep cracks, walking is unbelievably painful, showering/bathing feels like acid to my feet. After numerous visits to the chiropodist and doctors, a drawer full of creams and lotions, antibiotics, nothing has worked. I am now waiting an appointment to a dermotolagist. Has anyone else had problems that are either on going or they have managed to find a solution to helping an issue like this?
Hi, I had the same problem, every step was agony. It affected my feet and hands. Lotions, potions. Referred to dermatologist, took about 2 years to eventually get PUVA therapy (light treatment). Went twice a week for about 30 weeks I think it was. Told to moisturize 3 times a day. I tried all the expensive creams but nothing worked. Had allergy skin tests, seemingly allergic to propolis (not convinced). Started only using tub of liquid paraffin 50%/50%. Worked really well. For bad flare ups prescribed Betnovate C brilliant. Near end of PUVA treatment was diagnosed as type2. Took up tennis again after 15 years of sedentary life. Doctor really pleased bloods down from 10 to 6. Skin on feet look really good now. I have my life back :) Convinced exercise helps greatly, cut out soap and sugar and just use one moisturiser, I recommend the soft paraffin - hated it at first but works for me.

Hi jakisin, at this moment in time I'm on a course of steroids, on second week and got two more to do as my feet were infected as well. It's been a bumpy ride and the pain at times has been unbelievable but after the first week on steroids the difference was unbelievable, doctor gave me buckets full of soft white paraffin which I trowel on then cover in cling film before going to bed. I also went out and purchased a narrowband UVB lamp which at the moment I haven't used because I needed to see what results I got from the steroids, I have downloaded information on the results of having phototherapy and it all seems good, being in such a bad place with such pain I was willing to try anything. Doctor warned that my sugars would go through the roof but luckily I have been that strict with myself they have only risen slightly and also to my disbelief I have lost 9lb, fingers crossed I can get things sorted and back to a pain free time.

I did try looking up private but only came up with ones in London which is such a long way, if it meant a fair few visits, I travelled to London yesterday to pick up a uvb lamp and that was an utter nightmare, 6 hour round trip!

When I made a private appointment I asked my GP for the name and number of the specialist he would send me to. Then I waited until the condition was as bad as it gets before I rang for an appointment.

I visited the guy at his own surgery which, granted, was a fair distance from home but not 6 hours. Hope you get sorted soon.
