Sky High hba1C - Hopes & Fears

Just want to say well done guys. It helped me in the early weeks to keep a log of readings and what I’d eaten so I knew which meals were good and which needed tweeking or avoiding.
Remember
  1. Morning fasting readings are often the highest of the day due to dawn phenomenon (liver helpfully! giving us a shot of glucose to get up and going).
  2. An unexpectedly high reading might need repeating due to not washing hands etc.
  3. It’s the trends you need to watch
  4. Other things affect readings too Eg illness, lack of sleep, stress, temperatures, altitude even

I can recommend the mysgr app - you can track your blood sugar results and after it has about 40 readings it predicts your HBA1c if you get similar readings over 3 months.

Inspiring to hear about your 6.9!

I’ve found taking a walk after meals really helps to bring down my ‘2 hours after eating’ blood test score.

Mine was 116 10 days ago, initial diagnosis. Only had the test done as a fluke. Whilst obviously high, and clearly action required, the 3 medical professionals ive seen, one a diabetic specialist, have had complete optimism that it can be brought under control quickly with the right lifestyle changes

Its pretty miserable when youre told, but just try and react as best as you can.

Interested to know the lifestyle changes they have mentioned.. or was it the usual move more and "eat healthy" that most of us get?
Hello and welcome by the way.
